Hawkish Israeli proposal dodges Palestinian state

JERUSALEM (AP) -- Israel's vice prime minister and a number of lawmakers from the ruling Likud party have proposed alternatives to a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza.

They say Israel should annex parts of the West Bank, while turning over Palestinian population centers to Jordanian jurisdiction. This idea is a nonstarter with Israel's Arab neighbor. The position also conflicts with President Barack Obama's support for a Palestinian state.

Typical biased AP headline. I don't recall them calling Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran or al Qaeda "hawkish" or anything else negative, for that matter.

We don’t they just roll troops into the West Bank and Gaza, push the Arabs into Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt, and be done with it once and for all. Everyone hates Israel anyway, so what the hell.

Everyone also hates Palestinians.

Egypt does not want them.

Jordan does not want them.

Israel is playing its cards very well, even if they don’t have very many cards to play.

Then put them on boats and let them float around arguing with the U.N. and trying to find a new homeland...maybe then they’ll understand a little of what the Jews went through.

Vice Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon said the “Western way of thinking has proven irrelevant and dangerous to this region.”” Yaalon is the real thing. If Netanyahu didn’t have to kiss Barak’s backside, Yaalon would have been the Defense Minister. Screw all the “2 state” “peace process” uber alles know-absolutely-nothings.

I agree completely. I’ve had it with the incorrigibles on the West Bank and Gaza. They don’t want peace. They want pieces, of Israel, to destroy.

Just kick them off that soil, and occupy it in perpetuity.

Then tell the U.N. to go to hell.

"Israel's vice prime minister and a number of lawmakers from the ruling Likud party have proposed alternatives to a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza. They say Israel should annex parts of the West Bank, while turning over Palestinian population centers to Jordanian jurisdiction."

"This idea is a nonstarter with Israel's Arab neighbor. The position also conflicts with President Barack Obama's support for a Palestinian state."

It is a non-starter, at this point, ONLY for a number of reasons:

a)The ruling Jordanian elite does not want to have to be the one's to tame Palestinian terrorism against Israel (they thought they got rid of that job when Arafat lost his "civil war" against them and they, the Jordanian rulers, expelled him);

b)The ruling Jordanian elite does not want to see anything that adds to the already clear demonstration, historically and demographically, that IT is the other, "Palestinian" state that occupies the bulk of the territory once commonly referred to, in whole, as the "mandate of Palestine".

Demographically and by it's (Jordan's) own history, the Arabs have an Arab "Palestinian" state. It IS Jordan.

The real problems with that fact have been as follows:

a)The Arabs of "Palestine" were not consulted in the establishment of the rulers of Jordan (a bedouine clan from the Arabian peninsula);

b)Yet, in spite of that fact, the majority of "Palestinians" in Jordan today and under Jordanian rule in the past, accepted that rule, have worked with it and have prospered;

c)But, even while all that was true, it left the Islamists and "pan-Arab nationalists", and thugs like Arafat out of power and out of a peaceful means to power, in "Palestine";

d)So, when the thugs and their foreign supporters failed and when the Jordanian monarchy lost control of the area known as "the West Bank" (which it had formally incorporated into its' Palestinian state), then Arafat and others had to invent a demand for a "separate" Palestinian "national" entity, from the one that already existed - Jordan - the one that would not share power with the likes of Arafat.

It is time that Jordan:

a) disabuse itself of the myth's of its own history,

b) accept it's role as the primary "Arab" state formed out of the former "mandate of Palestine",

c) peacefully cooperate with Israel to:

(1) eventually reassert it's rule in the West Bank,

(2) help Israel disarm all forms of Arab terrorism against Israel,

(3) modernize its own political institutions to eventually provide the majority "Palestinians" their rightful place - political majority - in the government of Jordan.

The above process, if undertaken with active and peaceful cooperation of Israel and Jordan, is the only political path to a possible long-term peaceful resolution of the Arab conflict with Israel.

If those steps are avoided, to maintain Jordanian and Arab myths about Palestine, the rump state created for the political descendants of Arafat will never feel complete to its people and never sustain any peace with Israel.

It is the ONLY possible solution that should be pursued at this time.
