In Sotomayor's Own Words
Human Events ^ | May.27, 2009

President Obama on Tuesday nominated Judge Sonya Sotomayor to be on the Supreme Court. Here are some provocative statements she has made in the past.

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

"I simply do not know exactly what the difference will be in my judging. But I accept there will be some based on my gender and my Latina heritage.”

“I willingly accept that we who judge must not deny the differences resulting from experience and heritage but attempt, as the Supreme Court suggests, continuously to judge when those opinions, sympathies, and prejudices are appropriate.”

“America has a deeply confused image of itself that is in perpetual tension. We are nation that takes pride in our ethnic diversity, recognizing its importance in shaping our society and in adding richness to its existence.Yet, we simultaneously insist that we can and must function and live in a race and color-blind way that ignore these very differences that in other contexts we laud… Many of us struggle with this tension and attempt to maintain and promote our cultural and ethnic identities in a society that is often ambivalent about how to deal with differences.”

“I wonder whether by ignoring our differences as women or men of color we do a disservice both to the law and society.”

“I further accept that our experiences as women and people of color affect our decisions. The aspiration to impartiality is just that -- it’s an aspiration because it denies the fact that we are by our experiences making different choices than others.”

“All of the Legal Defense Funds out there -- they're looking for people with Court of Appeals experience. Because it is -- Court of Appeals is where policy is made. And I know, and I know, that this is on tape, and I should never say that. Because we don't ‘make law.’ ”

“Whether born from experience or inherent physiological or cultural differences, a possibility I abhor less or discount less than my colleague Judge Cedarbaum, our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging.”

One may search through this character’s utterances from front to back without ever finding the words, “The legislature passes laws which it is encumbent upon the judiciary to enforce as written.”

At least she admits she's a racist bigot.

“America has a deeply confused image of itself that is in perpetual tension. We are nation that takes pride in our ethnic diversity, recognizing its importance in shaping our society and in adding richness to its existence..."

You have a deeply confused image of America. You think because you are a Latina woman, that the country owes you something. You are more concerned about your Latina heritage than being an American citizen. There absolutely is an ethnic diversity in America, but the beautiful thing is, we ALL have the same opportunities and the same promise... "Pursuit of Happiness". If someone doesn't make, it's NOT Americas fault, it's that persons fault. We as a society need to take responsibility for ourselves and not blame our Heritage as a the reason we did or didn't make it.

Lady Justice no longer is blindfolded. She now has binoculars and a microscope.

In choosing Judge Sonya Sotomayor to replace Judge Souter, Obama has once again shown his perchance to place people of bias and activism in important spots....he doesn’t mind tax cheats either.

Putting another activist on the Supreme Court reduces that place to just one more common and unbalanced court not unlike the Ninth circuit. Sotomayor cannot and has not been able to leave her ‘chips’ behind i.e., black and white are not equal in her eyes, she is an unfair racist.

May people wind up in a rubber room or hang out with communists as well. It appears to be getting harder to tell the difference where each of the “liberals” belong. In the rooms with the loons or at the local Communist Party HQ.

“I wonder whether by ignoring our differences as women or men of color we do a disservice both to the law and society.”

“Hunny,” the blindfold is on the statue for a reason, NOT to “look cool.”

Bizarre is not even going to come close to what she will be passing off as “justice.”

Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”"

I suppose that her actually experiencing the clear thought that a “white male” would not, in most instances, be either stupid enough, intellectually retarded enough or morally corrupt enough to actually stand up in public, on the record and say something THAT ignorant, is totally beyond her ability to comprehend.

The current trendy racist bigotry against “white males” is only going to go so far and last so long. IF it blows the “liberal” communists that participated in the racism will be “so shocked” at the consequences of their commie cavorting.

Rush was just quoting General George Patton.

“If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn’t thinking.”

If the GOP is following the Dems lead, then why have two political parties? Conservatives beware.

Republicans should be going after Sotomayor with everything they have.

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

Is this the end of the road for the Equal Protection Clause?

Imagine if this were the quote: “I would hope that a wise white male with the richness of his experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Latina woman who hasn’t lived that life.”

Racism, pure and evil.
