They were founded during the Gold Rush, IIRC.
San Francisco had not yet become a haven for homosexuals.
However, over time, the local politics of SF infiltrated Levis at the corporate level.

I am sure that my gold ring will outlast any white knot for as long as they want to run that contest. And I see a whole lot more gold rings out there too.

(Hard core, extremist, and right-wing is a little too mild for my tastes.)

And I just sent them an email telling them why.

Just sent the following comment.
"Why are you perpetuating perversion with your white knot program? Stick to making jeans and stay out of politics. Wranglers for me until you stop this program."

Moreover, the company's decision to launch its "Signature" line, which is primarily marketed through Wal-Mart and other discount retailers, could be regarded as an admission that the company is permanently positioning itself as a mass-market brand.A totally rational decision, considering its genesis. And there are a lot more of us than there are of them, consumer-wise.
Having said that, it may be actually be positioning itself for extinction, ironically, mimicking the biological imperative of the pervert crowd.
Make your choices and take your chances.
Meanwhile, black knots anyone?

I am precisely going to wear a black knot.
To: SumProVita
So, what would it mean if I wore a black knot?As long as it's small and subtle.
: )
I just love the image-over-substance-crowd. Time to join them. The black ribbon works for me on so many levels...

Yep, me too. Screw Levi’s if they’re going to cater to the homos. I can get jeans from their competitors.
To: rightwingintelligentsia
I haven’t bought Levi’s for years. They lost me when they withdrew their support for the Boy Scouts.

So, what would it mean if I wore a black knot?Just make sure that the knot is well-worn.
That way your message will be:
I'm a Frayed Knot.

Kmart also sells Levis.
I used to buy Levis exclusively, but haven’t bought any in years. Their quality really went down the tubes when they stopped making them in the US. And since the Boy Scouts fiasco, not to mention this “white knot” crap, it’s certain that I won’t be buying Levis anytime soon!

Having said that, it may be actually be positioning itself for extinction, ironically, mimicking the biological imperative of the pervert crowd. When a company deliberately goes out of its way to anger the majority of its potential customers to please a distinct minority, they are begging for extinction. I think I see a pattern.
