I could look this up, but what I remember is that they actually issued an arrest warrant before the indictment, which was highly unusual in these sorts of cases. They dragged him out of his house in handcuffs early in the morning.
Typically, the US attorney will notify the lawyer, and they simply show up in court to receive the indictment.
I could be wrong, though.
