Senator Orin Hatch: "If no surprises, Sotomayor 'highly likely' to be confirmed"

WASHINGTON (CNN) — It is part political reality — and, seemingly, part Republican strategy.

The longest-serving Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee tells CNN Radio that as things stand now, Sonia Sotomayor is headed for a Supreme Court confirmation.

"If there are no otherwise disqualifying matters here, it appears to me she will probably be confirmed," Senator Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said Thursday.

Hatch is acknowledging the Senate landscape. Democrats could have 60 votes in the chamber if Minnesota's Al Franken is seated, and they now hold a 12 to 7 majority on the Judiciary Committee.

But as he speaks to Sotomayor's strength, Hatch is also digging the first Republican battle line on her nomination: the schedule.

"If the Democrats don't overplay their hand and don't try to rush this too much, the process will go well, they'll be better off, she'll get confirmed," he said, again adding that is if no new concerns come to light.

One day, and Boobie Hatch already is changing his tune?

Wonder what is on the incriminating photos someone at the DNC has of him?

Hatch makes true conservatives want to puke.

I watched this weasel last night on Hannity and could tell he was squirming, but as usual Hannity let him get off the hook.

Yup.

The judiciary has been a mess since Hatch was involved.

Hatchling has stated the obvious. What remains to be seen is if he has sufficient cajones to expose the reasons this leftist female is unfit to sit the highest court ... five of her six cases sent to the SCOTUS for review were overturned, if memory serves; Sotomayor ahs from her own mouth shown her mental state to be the antithesis of what a judge on the Constitutional level should be—she’s anything but objective; Sonia Sotomayor is a racist Hispanic.

It is so with every nominee. That said, the anti whitey comment/ruling are getting play, as they should. She will not be unscathed (as will not the 0ne).

That was not only an unfair assertion regarding Hatchling, it was a purposed mischaracterization. What Hatchling stated was the obvious, and unless a surprise the likes of upChuck Schumer does not surface to embarrass the democrats, they will push her into the court as their tyypical affirmative action promotion, unfit and an insult to Hispanics.

Hatch - long ago crossed over to the dark side.
TERM LIMITS must be implemented..

Now that we know the ballot box is corrupt, there is NO “loyal opposition” to the racists, Communists and illegal immigration invasion - nor can we rely upon Term Limits to remove some of the more toxic Congress Critter — it appears the 2nd Amendment and the cartridge box will be the solution of last resort...

Exactly as the Founders prepared for.

I figured as much.

However, my gonadal assessment of the comfy cozy, make-no-waves, luke-warm oatmeal career politician Hatch, remains in place.
