The yahoo who posted the comment was resoundingly put down by most of us on the thread, including me.

Did O’Reilly miss that?

My teenage son is Type 1. The poster is just ignorant of the disease.

Folks with the problem of diabetes (type 1 and type 2), who have lost family members to it, are more knowledgeable than are people like O'Reilly.

We know this Sotomayor should be subjected to intense scrutiny ~ not because diabetics aren't intellectually the equal of the best, but because the care and treatment of diabetes by the affected diabetics is a serious concern.

For example we ~ as diabetics ~ want to know why this woman with Type 1 has gotten chubby. We want to know about these stories of her flying off the handle in court, and being intemperate. Is she using her insulin properly. Does she exercise enough. How about the secondary effects ~ remember, she had diabetes for the last 47 years and that means she had it in a period of time where virtually nothing was known about it other than that you could inject insulin and avoid dropping dead.

Judge Bork's smoking habit was questioned. Sotomayor's insulin use should also be questioned.

Our questions have nothing to do with her politics, just the way she may be mistreating her body and thereby endangering her ability to render well reasoned decisions. We already know the other Liberals on the court are unable to render well reasoned deisions, but no one ever bothered to find out why that was the case with them. What we can't take is another inadequate Liberal on the court. If necessary body cavity checks are not out of line. Too much is at stake.
