Gay marriage advocates to reach out to churches

Ventura County advocates for gay marriage plan to visit churches and synagogues as part of their effort to put the issue back on the California ballot in 2010.

“We don’t want to get into screaming and yelling matches, we just want to tell our stories,” said Lisa Hughes, a member of Equality Ventura County’s faith outreach subcommittee.

Equality Ventura County met Thursday night at the Ventura County Rainbow Alliance offices in Ventura to discuss its next step, now that the California Supreme Court has upheld the voter-approved Proposition 8 prohibiting gay marriage.

EVC is a task force that was organized to defeat Proposition 8. Its mission now is to return the issue of gay marriage to the voters.

Can the churches, in turn, tell them the Good News?

What is it about these people that they just won’t accept “no” for an answer?

Oh my.... you have got to be kidding...

The same gays that were storming through, interrupting services yelling “Jesus was a Homo” are now going to ask the churches for their help?????

Where’s the /Satire tag?

Welcome to worship...

We would be glad to sit and listen thoughtfully to every point you care to make within the bounds of civil discourse and intellectual honesty...

And would ask the same civil courtesies of your representatives, as we explain our Biblical doctrines, spiritual commitments, moral arguments, and political stance to you.

This conversation is way overdue...

Just my humble...

As long as they hold their discourse off of Church grounds. Why should any Church be forced to accept blaspheme or blasphemous behavior

Then again, any 'Church' that condones or supports such behavior isn't really a Church at all, it's a cult.

Yep. The same queers who wanted to torch and burn churches down because they couldn’t marry their butt-buddy. Unfortunately, my parish in L.A. once in a while does these queer masses. And these fools have the audacity to ask me to raise my church collection..

What are the gays going to do when they get into the church? Sing it’s raining men, hallelujah?

And if churches tell them same sex marriage is forbidden, what will they say?

The proposition of “gay marriage” was ALREADY been put “before the voters”. You lost.

We don’t want you queers claiming legitimacy.

You and your homosexual activities are DISGUSTING.

Actually, I think I would arrange a meeting for discussion - and invite the ministries of Focus on the Family and Exodus International. It is a great opportunity to reach some of them.

I do not get this, are they just crazy?

Churches are not necessarily Christian so some will open their arms to the Gays.

My church preaches ALL the Bible, not just the stuff we like. We also will admit the Gays but we also will tell them that they are wrong and that is SIN; we all sin.

This issue is not what we think it is what GOD said.
We cannot change it.

You folks don’t get to call the shots. these places may not even want you there. What good can come of it? Why should you have the right to tell your story in any church? “We just want” ought to be the slogan for the homosexual movement.

And incidentally, if anyone thinks I am too harsh, this is what the activist gays have done ALL ALONG. At first, it was “We Just Want” to not be criminalized. Then “We Just Want” not to be classifed as disordered. Then “We Just Want” to be recognized that we exist. Then “We just Want” the same rights as everyone else (they already did). Then “We Just Want” to talk to kids in school about this. Then “We Just Want” to change what marriage is to include two men or two women. Then “We Just Want” special protections via hate crimes laws.

It’s the same ol’, same ol’. We Just Want.

They ought to make them first have to sit through a bunch of other good Christian folks sharing THEIR life stories and explaining why all kinds of perversion need to be outlawed, let the gays sit through an hour or two of other speakers opposed to homosexuality before they get to speak their little piece.

Ann Coulter said something along those lines: The group w/o a voice that won’t shut up.
