GOP goes after the Obama's date night in NYC [jetting off somewhere at taxpayer expense......]

GOP goes after the Obama's date night in NYC @ 3:37 pm by Michael O'Brien

The Republican National Committee (RNC) went after President and Mrs. Obama's date night, contrasting their trip to New York City Saturday evening with Americans' economic struggles.

"As President Obama prepares to wing into Manhattan's theater district on Air Force One to take in a Broadway show, GM is preparing to file bankruptcy and families across America continue to struggle to pay their bills," RNC spokeswoman Gail Gitcho wrote to reporters.

"Have a great Saturday evening — even if you're not jetting off somewhere at taxpayer expense," she added.

The president and first lady had announced they will take a smaller VIP jet under military command to minimize the costs of the flight to New York this evening.

The administration had come under fire before for the trip of an Air Force One plane over Manhattan for promotional pictures, a trip which sparked questions about security and the cost of the trip.

The RNC dredged up that comparison as well, adding a clip to Obama's joke before the White House Correspondents' Association dinner about the First Daughters, Sasha and Malia, having been grounded for taking the plane for a "joyride" in that instance.

Nothing new for King Obama. He is just a childlike playboy with a new toy, taxpayers money. Bet the bill for Air Force one and his world travel will be many billions for his first term.

Just heard this on the news. If this is not Louie the XVI and Marie Antoinette behaviour I don't know what is. In the Marine Corps, we are taught to lead by example. In these hard times, when businesses are going bust, and we are all expected to tighten our belts, this dictator takes his wife on holiday at huge taxpayer costs. This President is cruisin’ for a bruisin’. This kind of behaviour is going to lose him even his own devout socialist democrats, who are also feeling the pinch, in the next election ( unless we can get that birth certificate thing and get him booted out of the WH and into jail ).

Think back to the '91 recession. We were treated to a steady diet of pictures and videos of the Bushies recreating in Kennebeunkport. We had videos of Bush golfing, fishing and cruising in his "gas guzzling" speed boat.

I don't know what the per-hour fuel consumption rate of Bush's fishing boat was, but I'm guessing it was much, much less than the 3,400 gallons per hour that AF1 burns.

Do we really need a POTUS and First Lady who are immune to the economic hardships of Americans, their voters included?

The libs are justifying the flight costs because he’s taking a Gulfstream instead of the VC-25. What a joke.

Did the Bush's own the boat and fueled the boat at their expense?

Yes. Chase boats manned by the SS were gov't owned and were on the taxpayers dime.

"I don't know what the per-hour fuel consumption rate of Bush's fishing boat was, but I'm guessing it was much, much less than the 3,400 590 gallons per hour that AF1 burns.

Fixed it.

Of course, one would have to also add the 4,300 gallons per hour that the C5 (used to transport the Beast and other SS vehicles) uses.

And think of the security nightmare involved in seeing a Broadway show - would be cheaper to have the whole dang cast and set come to the WH. (There’s a power play that perhaps has not occurred to Our Dear Leader.)

Bet the SS is really pleased. It’s good to be king...

When the King wanted a pizza, he flew a pizza chef in from St. Louis.

I’m surprised he doesn’t fly the entire cast and crew of the Broadway show to the White House for a one night stand.

I assume that you are blind. Did you see any USAF markings on that boat you mentioned??? Didn’t think so. At least the Bush family bought and paid for that boat with their own money.

The great one can’t come up with money to by AF one. As for using a smaller plane, I expect it would be the Boeing 757, which is pretty big. I would recommend a Cessna 172 or smaller for him.

Plus, the Bushes OWN the compound at Kennebunkport. Granted, there were transportation costs, but once there security was already in place and all of the recreation was using their own stuff. What do you want to bet that the theater tickets the King Obama and Her Thighness are not being paid for by them?

I think you need to re-read my original post. My point was that the media, even back then, was eager to portray A Republican President as out of touch with the the average American during a tough recession. They did this most frequently by showing Bush recreating.

I was drawing a comparison to the insignificant cost of Bush' own watercraft usage, to the enormous expense of Barry's day-trip to NYC to catch a show and some dinner. I was trying to illustrate the media's hypocrisy. I'm sorry you took it as something else.
