Obama confident Sotomayor will survive criticism

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama expressed confidence Saturday that efforts to scuttle Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court will fail despite intensified scrutiny of her judicial career. He said senators should work quickly to elevate the federal appeals judge.

"I am certain that she is the right choice," the president said in his weekly radio and Internet address in which he scolded critics who he said were trying to distort her record and past statements. Those include her 2001 comment that a female Hispanic judge would often reach a better decision than a white male judge.

With the Senate returning this coming week from its holiday break, Obama said he hopes it begins the confirmation process without delay. He said he expects his nominee to be on the bench when the Supreme Court begins its new term in October.

In the interim, Obama said he expects "rigorous evaluation" of his nominee but added: "What I hope is that we can avoid the political posturing and ideological brinksmanship that has bogged down this process, and Congress, in the past."

In a nutshell, Zero is asking Republicans to NOT act like Democrats. He’s insane.

I’m curious as to her personal status. She’s been divorced since ‘83. Is she celibate? Got a boyfriend? A girlfriend?

She will survuve and be placed on the court. And for one reason...the Senate is made ip of a majority of anti-Americans like Obama himself and will therefore have the votes.
<p.
That does not mean we cannot or should not make clear to all Americans what type of activist, racist judge she is, wholly unsuited for the Supreme Court and in fact a stain upon the honor of that institution.

As a senator, Barack Obama said President George W. Bush's Supreme Court nominees John Roberts and Sam Alito were clearly qualified. He voted against them anyway.

Obama's not only a fraud, he's a hypocrite

Well, Mr. O, I certainly believe you.

If you can survive what you have to become president of the United States, then this nomination is certainly in the bag.

Exactly!

This is an opportunity to HURT Obama!

We would be stupid not to use this opportunity, regardless of the effect on this particular appointment!

“he scolded critics who he said were trying to distort her record and past statements”

She’s been quite transparent enough so that we know what she believes: that a “wise latina woman” would make a better judge than a “white man.”

Harriet Meirs wasn’t qualified either, and conservatives opposed her as well. `Sotomeirs’ is a political hack who surpassed her level of competence at Princeton.

Withdraw her nomination ....*

Biden figures may be in the oval office by the end of 2009. When the disaster which is Obamanomics because too obvious to ignore, the DNC power brokers might start leaning on Hussein to resign.

Of course he’s confident. Whoever is on the other end of his blackberry (THE puppet master) told him she’d be confirmed.

He brought the Political Posturing and partisan bickering to the process during the Alito hearings. Is he insane? Obviously the media won’t ask him about how hypocritical his stand is it is fast becoming a one party country backed by PRAVDA soon there will be calls for changes to the Constitution..

Remember “You ain’t seen nothing yet”.

"I am certain that she is the right choice,"...you bet she is - thinks a Latina woman would make a better judge than any white male, rules against whites receiving earned promotions because minorities didn't get any - she fits right in with what is becoming an increasingly obvious prejudice against non-minorities in this administration, what with the dismissal yesterday of a case against three New Black Panther Party members who were caught on tape intimidating voters in Philadelphia last November - but with all the concern about conservatives losing latino votes by opposing Sotomayor, it is more likely that Obama and the 'rats will be the ones to lose the votes of many whites who will be catching on to the real agenda of the administration as it pushes for Sotomayor's confirmation......
