The last survivor of the sinking of the Titanic has died aged 97.
Millvina Dean was nine weeks old when the liner sank after hitting an iceberg in the early hours of 15 April 1912, on its maiden voyage from Southampton.
The disaster resulted in the deaths of 1,517 people in the north Atlantic, largely due to a lack of lifeboats.
Miss Dean, who remembered nothing of the fateful journey, died on Sunday at the care home in Hampshire where she lived, two of her friends told the BBC.
Her family had been travelling to America, where they hoped to start a new life and open a tobacconist's shop in Kansas. They travelled third class.
Miss Dean's mother, Georgetta, and two-year-old brother, Bert, also survived, but her father, Bertram, was among those who perished when the vessel sank.

Didn’t Nostrodamus predict that when the last survivor of the Titanic died, the world would be close to the end?
Maybe he was referring to the cast and crew of the movie.
A UK Blue Ensign, as flown by the Royal Mail Steamer "Titanic".
Looked this up on here only because a lady I know was complaining that Kate Winslet, Leo DiCaprio, and James Cameron were cheapskates because they ONLY donated $30 k total for her bills.
It was nice they donated to help her. May she Rest in Peace.
That was the argument I had with this person. They didn’t have to donate anything. $10,000 a piece seemed very nice to me. She said they donate more to get their hair done and it was their “cause”. Some people are ridiculous in their expectations of what other people.
It indicates a British government owned vessel (either defaced with the badge of the agency or not), or a vessel with a certain number of Royal Naval Reserve officers in the crew. That is why RMS “Titanic” was entitled to wear it.
Thanks
