Put William Mitchell Professor Raleigh Levine in the list of Minnesota legal and political experts who think Al Franken will prevail in the Minnesota Supreme Court and that Norm Coleman has little chance of getting his case heard in federal court.
Professor David Schultz of Hamline University, Professor Larry Jacobs of the Humphrey Institute and Professor Steven Schier of Carleton College also say they believe the Supreme Court will uphold the three-judge panel's ruling in favor of Al Franken. And all think this matter wont go anywhere in federal court.
Furthermore, I have been unable to find any independent expert who believes Coleman will win in the Minnesota Supreme Court. In fact, I have asked the Coleman camp if they know of any expert and they not given me any names.
The thing about experts is that they can, of course, be wrong. But when they all say the same thing you have to wonder.
This morning, attorneys for Coleman and Franken present their arguments before the Minnesota Supreme Court. It appears this really is the beginning of the end of the longest Senate election in U.S. history.
What makes Professors experts? If you ask me, most of them are theorists. Nothing more.
“What makes Professors experts?...”
They are liberals...they KNOW everything! (scarcasm added)
“Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach. Those who can’t teach, teach gym.”
McQueeg: "I will always strive to work across the aisle with my good friend Senator Franken."
Arlene: "As a new second-time Democrat I couldn't be more overjoyed than to be in company with the fine gentleman from Minnesota."
“Experts”?? Shouldn’t that be “extremists”?
“Those who can, do. Those who cant, become librarians!”

A case in point: Columbia economics professor Joseph Stiglitz, who won a Nobel prize in his field, has written that the war in Iraq was not cost-justified. He apparently thinks it would have been cheaper not to go after the terrorists, not to hunt them down, not to capture or kill them, and instead allow more 9/11’s here at home. Just one more 9/11 could destroy our economy, but the learned Prof thinks the cost of preventing another 9/11 has been too high.
College professors are most disconnected from reality, close-minded, and arrogant. They are also horrible communicators. Whenever I get books to read, I try to avoid those written by career academics.
There's the "E" word again......everyone's a freakin' expert.
Narcissistic professors? Yes, of course. "Experts"? I think not.
Libs are stealing another one.
We can expect a whole bunch more of this stuff in 2010...:(
If I ran a university, I would not grant tenure to anyone who did not spend at least five years in a private sector job, or same amount of time in military service.
You would probably see the graduates of such an institution supremely prepared for life, and employers lined up to hire the graduates, rather than the other way around.
I would be so embarrased to have Franken as a Senator.
You actually pay attention to WCCO?!
That’s a big part of the problem right there...
Al Franken will make Joe Biden look articulate and reasoned. I bet the Democrats are not happy about this.
60 votes so yep, they don’t care who it is.
