WASHINGTON - The Obama administration has blocked Israel's request for advanced U.S.-origin attack helicopters.

Government sources said the administration has held up Israel's request for the AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopter. The sources said the request was undergoing an interagency review to determine whether additional Longbow helicopters would threaten Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.

I don't know if they need our hardware or not. But, if they want hardware, I'd rather it come from us, made by our citizens with revenues going to our coffers, rather than it being built and purchased in Europe or Russia.

It's a simple matter of economy. It's cheaper to buy from the U.S. which has a ready made product and support chain that to build their own. They do, however, add significant mods to these aircraft for their own requirements.
