I am interested in your opinion. (for real)

What should they have done differently to make the song more appealing?

My high school age daughter didn’t mind the video. She thought the tall guy was cute.

Videos with music don’t do much for me, but what was it that bothered you so much about this one?

The reactions of the libs, the death threats and all, show that it hits pretty close to home.

Amazing that in 2009 one can espouse Conservative views and receive death threats because of it!

What the hell has happened to our country?!!

Thanks. I’m sure some of our younger members will appreciate this more than I would. You take care.

Metmom, I think there are different ways to attract different people. I support you introducing this to the forum. Hopefully some folks will listen and it will spark an appreciation for Conservatism. You take care.

Thanks Cicero. I’m more sensitive to this genre, because my two (adult now) children grew up at just the wrong time, so that Rap was very popular during the most vulnerable impressionalbe time in their lives.

What an ugly culture grew up around that genre.

Thanks folks. I think Metmom did a good thing by bringing this to the forum’s attention, and I didn’t mean to infer otherwise. I do appreciate your notes of agreement.

I listened to it. Tho I confess it is not that easy to follow, it was not in bad taste at all.

I sent it to my sons—not sure if they are Rap fans, but it is the music of the younger generation, so if they can use it to reach others, good for them.

I have a gift for your creative thinking and acceptance:

It' name was Tiger.

jwparkerjr said nothing to deserve that kind of reaction. He raised a valid point.

No one has to like everything that everyone else does and it is no negative reflection of his creative thinking or acceptance. On the contrary, it was a live and let live attitude, which is apparently more than we can say for you.

Again, I can’t stand rap and that’s about my rap quota for the rest of my life.

However, the lyrics were so funny and I knew that it would really torque off the libs, that I thought is would be worth posting, even though I knew the risk of the reaction on FR.

It’s a matter of keeping up with what’s going on out there.

I thank you for posting the words. I could not understand it and didn’t want to listen to it. More power to them.

I think that the song was great (beat, rhythm, delivery, however, the flow of the lyrics is... a bit off, I think I think that though because it was just spitting words and jumped from issue to issue with no... connections other than it was conservative view). I would consider this an introduction into conservatism, though if you are not a media or political geek (or read FR even), some would go right over your head (Porklus, Atlas shrugged, etc.)

If I was making the video I would have placed more than the guys in there, video (ones out of copyright or ones that never had any) , more photos, less effects (stick to that black and white, I loved that in the beginning and the blinking, but that smoke... ulk ). I would have cut the view of the rappers to about ten to twenty places (my favorite would have to be where he talking about how to lay the concrete, and the podium scenes with the tall one when he is talking about finding girls with intellectual integrity... He had me swooning then). I would have used the video to re-enforce the rap, or to help explain some parts better (though that would be harder to do than re-enforce, and I only see it for a few parts). I would also try to fit the photos better in the screen, thought that may be to much.

The video production would bother me more than the regular person I will admit because video production is what I will probably do for my dad when I get out school, though I’ve only worked a bit with it. And music videos, I have really no middle ground, I either love them or am embarrassed for the artist (and it’s usually the latter).

Hope that explains it.

I can see that those changes would have helped a lot.

It’s the creative thing. I can recognize something that’s well done, but am not good at creating it.

I love to sew and I’m very good at it. I can pick material to fit a pattern exceedingly well, but for adding details to give it that extra sparkle, forget it, unless I see something. I can copy something that’s nice (and have done so), but can’t think of it.

My friend is the same way; I look at this way, nothing is new. If you see something that seems creative, it’s other ideas synthesized into something that looks new. When I looked at that, I can see what needs, because I’ve seen others like that, and can figure how to make it fit better by taking other ideas and plugging it in.

Just like when I sow, I take something that see, and then take the idea and place it on something (however, I hate patterns. My outfits do not turn out that because of it well, so I think your doing better than me, I have an out fit about half will have to re-sown at the moment :D). Plus if you add in a few different techniques you may have seen I would consider that something new and creative. Knowing your material is the actually the thing need the most to be able to creative :D.

When I made dressed for my daughters, I’d go to one of these high end clothing catalogs that we often got in the mail. I’d find a pattern and material similar and add the details that the dress showed, and voila’, a dress made for $8 that cost $80 from them. :)

I agree Metmom, and I don’t expect folks’ musical tastes to match my own, believe me. Take care...
