“...country is full of bumbkins like this moron sheriff who will follow orders against citizens no questions asked.”
___________

Law Enforcement Officer enforce the law. If the law was broken then an investigation and arrest is proper. Failure to do so would cause the system to break down. We impeached one presidentr because he lied under oath about a personal matter. Following the law at every level is that important. These sorts of charges are serious and should be enforced now as well as when we have a president more to our liking.

Fine. Round up all the conservatives with guns and military training. This is exactly what the DHS said it would do. And they seem to be doing just that. As long as someone levels a charge and a judge issues a warrant (we know how unbiased judges are in this country) it's all honky dory.

In theory you're right...but what happens when you've lost all confidence in government? Just a year ago I would have been on the government's side (and not because it was Bush's presidency...I'd have felt the same under ANY president up til now) But today we're confronted with evidence every day that our elected government is not interested in protecting this country or her citizens, only it's own power. The government is destroying our economy, they are actively warring against capitalism and the middle class. They have taken such a hard left that the wheels are coming off and we'd better wake up and pay attention or we'll all get killed in teh wreck.

The First Amendment guarentees free political speech, even if coarse. There was no cause for arrest.

Now, if he made such a threat, and then got out of bed and drove into proximity of "0", we'd have an enforcement issue.

Whan the law is immoral, it is immoral to obey the law.

Government’s laws are just the dictates of men—most of whom are goons and thieves. Anyone who cannot distinguish between laws and morality is immoral to the core.

As for the “system,” how’s that working out?

We have more police and law enforcement agencies (and the most expensive) in the world. If the system worked, there would be no crime. We also have the largest prison population of any country in the world (by several times). How come?

So much for your draconian laws. They don’t work, but they sure make the life of every decent working individual miserable, and those who inforce them have to shut their eyes to the oppression of decent people they know most laws are.

Hank
