June 3rd, Smoke and the boyz meet up at Eldora for charity

Prelude focus has changed but racing is still the same
Event to benefit entities that cater to military personnel

ROSSBURG, Ohio — As the sun sets over the cornfields of central Ohio on Wednesday, 26 of the best drivers in the country will meet at Eldora Speedway for the fifth annual Prelude to the Dream.

There is no prize money, no points, no sponsor obligations — just 26 drivers in dirt late model stock cars going for a trophy and bragging rights among their peers. All drivers want the trophy, but for 25 of them, if they can’t win, they want to beat Eldora’s owner, Tony Stewart — a two time Prelude to the Dream winner.

I'll be working the race again this year. We usher on Sunday until the race starts and then we can find a seat in the stands and watch the race.

For doing that we get a free pass for the entire weekend: qualifying, practice, the Saturday ARCA race - all free. The only thing we can't do is go into the pits.

For doing this the Mattioli family (track owners) give $50 per volunteer to charity.

I'm not sure what events I'm going to. Friday I'm off work early but Saturday (ARCA race) I'm supposed to work until about 2 or 3.

Hi folks! I’m in Atlanta this week and don’t know if I’ll be home in time to watch the race. I may have to read the thread for the race recap!
