Roeder's Anti-Abortion Activism Scrutinized
Kansas City Star ^ | 6/3/09 | Laura Bauer & Judy L. Thomas

Posted on 06/03/2009 9:24:39 AM PDT by steve-b

When Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller stood trial in March, Scott Roeder was there in the courtroom.

And after Tiller was acquitted on charges he had failed to properly justify late-term abortions, Roeder told a fellow activist that the whole process was a "sham."...

Now, Roeder will face his own charges inside the same courthouse. Prosecutors say the 51-year-old Merriam man walked into Tiller’s church Sunday morning while the doctor was serving as an usher and shot him once in the face....

At the time of Roeder's arrest Sunday afternoon along Interstate 35 in Johnson County, a television station captured the vehicle on video. There on the dashboard was a note that read "Cheryl" and "Op Rescue" with a phone number.

Cheryl Sullenger, senior policy adviser for Operation Rescue out of Wichita, said Tuesday that she has spoken to Roeder in the past, but she said he would initiate the contact. She said she hasn’t had any recent contact with him....

Dr. Tiller was for years involved in the violent slaughter of unborn children. Why wouldn’t that violence one day rub off on him?

Nice to see that the Kansas commie press is alone in still reporting the Tiller incident and aftermath. The MSM gave up 2 days ago. The story is dead.

The Muslim terroist shooting took all the wind out of their sails.

And people say God isn't smiling on America anymore. It seems he may be.

” his family painted him as a kind man but someone who had suffered from mental illness.
He was diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was younger, and court records from a custody
dispute in Pennsylvania state that he doesn’t take medication for it.”

A schizophrenic off his meds is a totally different image than the media is reporting.

“And at 5:50 a.m. Saturday, he attempted to glue the back door..”

Putting Super Glue on doors on Saturday to murder on Sunday.
He obviously flipped somewhere between Saturday and Sunday.
Considering his history of mental illness,an insanity defense looks possible.
Which will put the left in a bind as they usually excuse crimes occurring as a result of mental illness ,
blaming evil Republicans for funding cut backs.
George Bush will be blamed for this any day, now.

I don’t know about that On PMSNBC, Madcow was foaming at the mouth about the assassination (that’s the word she/he used) of Tiller. Didn’t stick around long enough to learn whether she/he described the shooting of the two AR soldiers by a muslim, as an assassination/s

I had not heard Roeder was at Tiller's trial. He is right that it was a sham. Tiller bought the Governor and the prosecution who basically just went through the motions.

They have to be very careful with this story. On the one hand, they want to use it to smear those hated “pro-lifers”. On the other hand, they need to avoid having it lead to the question of “What exactly was this guy doing that made him such a target?” That would lead to people actually knowing what their “choice” thing is all about and they most emphatically don’t want that.

I don’t support the killing of abortionists, as a matter of fact I am against it, but I wouldn’t want to impose my morals on anybody else.

Yes, exactly.

"How horrible! He associated with people who support the right to life and try to save babies!" That doesn't go over very well if you think about it, does it?

Or, "He killed George Tiller because he had a violent hatred of abortionists--especially late term abortionists--especially the most notorious abortionist in America, the man who made Kansas infamous, who bought the election of a district attorney who favored him, and who bribed the governor in his successful efforts to buy off prosecution for various crimes he committed in violation of Kansas law."

I don’t pay that much attention to the networks, but have spun through the MSNBC shows geared toward the very rabid left. They seem to be able to stir the fires of hate with their limited (and already crazy) audience without worrying about pesky questions. What has the ABC/NBC/CBS coverage been like, I wonder?

Who had the most to gain (apart from unborn humans) from Tiller’s death? I would say Kathleen Sebelious. Just appointed as HHS Sec. with BOR hot on her trail of corruption a la Tiller. Now that story is all but dead.
