"If there were a launch from a rogue state such as North Korea, I have good confidence that we would be able to deal with it," Gates said Monday during a stopover in Alaska on his way home from a trip to Asia.

OK. So DOD will firmly lock the door after the cows have exited and we have been nuked.
Makes sense.

Am I the only one who thinks that developing a defense is best done BEFORE an attack, not DURING ?

They will deal with it by launching power point presentations and denying that anything happened. Further the press will completely ignore the smoking ruin that was once an American city and declare that its all Bush's fault anyway.

Based on what I have seen since January 20, I think Obama should change his name to “Rethink”.

They’ll need to bring more printing presses online before any new defense system.

I was for missile defense before I was against missile defense before I was for missile defense. Let's see Obama read that from his TOTUS.

These projects take years to create viable solutions for missile defence.
You can’t wait till the threat is here to pump more money into the program.
The guy is an idiot.

"I have
good confidence...."
What exactly is that supposed to mean? Like, on a scale of 1 to 10, is that a 5? A 3.5?
I realize that Bush appointed Gates, but Ø kept (or reappointed) him. This is worse than Amateur Hour.
A bunch of people, chosen at random from the NYC phone book, to serve as Ø's Administration, would do a better job than this.

In the past Gates proposed slicing a billion dollars off the anti-missile system budget and freezing the development of interceptors at 30, instead of the 44 originally planned. But he indicated he might re-examine his proposal. And when he (and King Obama) did that we here in FreeperLand yelled at the top of our lungs: "WHAT ABOUT NORTH KOREA". These guys can't see 2 months into the future and they are responsible for defending us from our enemies.
