Obama’s Aunt May Be Heading Back to Kenya

President Obama’s aunt, a Kenyan immigrant who has been fighting deportation proceedings for several years while living illegally in Boston, may be heading back to Kenya, according to a family member.

It was not clear if the aunt, Zeituni Onyango, was being deported or if she was going back voluntarily, but in 2003 a judge ordered her to leave the country. She appealed that ruling and lost, with another judge ordering her deported in 2004. She had a third hearing in April in which she was seeking asylum; the outcome has not been made public.

The White House had no immediate comment. The case has been watched to see if Mr. Obama would intervene to help a relative or let her fight through the immigration process on her own.

Ms. Onyango came to the United States in 2000 on a valid visa and lived relatively anonymously in Boston until just before last year’s presidential election, when The Times of London found her in what it described as “rundown public housing.”

The media flocked to her doorway. She shunned the publicity. Mr. Obama’s campaign aides said only that he did not know his aunt was in the United States illegally and that “any and all appropriate laws” covering her situation should be followed.

It turned out she had donated a series of contributions, totaling $265, to the Obama campaign. The campaign returned the money because it is illegal for foreign citizens and immigrants without green cards to make political donations.

Eventually, Ms. Onyango left Boston for Cleveland, where she had relatives. She attended Mr. Obama’s inauguration in Washington in January and later returned to Boston to press her case for asylum in the United States.

Something tells me there is more to the story than what is being reported.

Look at this situation from a political viewpoint. If Obama’s aunt goes back to Kenya, then Obama is less subject to criticism for allowing more and more illegals into the country.

Furthermore, it would not be all that bad for Obama’s aunt to go back to Kenya if Obama’s operatives paid the bill for her to live the life of luxury in her homeland.

Follow the money and the answer is there.
