That also crossed my mind. It was dark and it sounds like the pilot was flying blindly into these storms

Pilots can't look out the cockpit window right in front of them and see "electrical storms" at night? Have you ever seen an electrical storm? Thunderstorms with an abundance of cloud to cloud lightning can be seen for 100 miles, much farther at 32,000'. I seriously doubt the couldn't see it because of RADAR problems.

And damage from a bomb could just as well cause the electrical problem and the depressurization that was reported.
