Hundreds of protesters massed behind the legislative building Wednesday, with a simple message in dark financial times.

"No more taxes!" they shouted. Some carried signs and "Don't Tread on Me" flags for the event, dubbed "Take Back Our State Tea Party."

A collection of conservative groups brought in nationally recognized speakers such as FOX News' Mary Katharine Ham and Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher to speak against proposed tax increases in next year's budget.

Wurzelbacher, whose questioning of Barack Obama's tax policies in the 2008 campaign brought him prominence, urged people to get involved in politics and hold government officials accountable. "This is our fault because we vote these guys in and then go about our business," he said.

Things that need to change in North Carolina.

Move this state to the Fair Tax System.

Take our state Lottery away from schools (schools get to much money now) (my 2 kids are 22 & 24 nether new what the Boston Tea Party was about) and make it a retirement plan for the people of the state.

Let the people of the have the right of Initiative and Referendum.

Thanks for the ping, Mitchell.

My wife and I went last night. The mood was as animated as it was on April 15.

The movement seems to be gaining a little steam or at least, not losing any.

You are absolutely correct we all must join together to make the it happen Whatnow.
It takes a lot of cash to hold a rally in DC and this group sure could use our help. They have the permits already just need to make some more down payments for them. I know times are tight If you can’t give a buck then please just let folks know about it. If you don’t feel comfortable just giving money they have a on line store as well with some great shirts and other items that make great gifts.

Let’s make this happen FReepers.

Help us spread the word of our protest
