Move America Forward has been hot on the issue of Guantanamo Bay for the past 6 months. In December we made Guantanamo the last stop on our “Honoring Heroes at the Holidays II” tour and we brought boxes of Christmas cards, DVDs, T-Shirts and lots of other goodies from our care packages to Guantanamo Bay to distribute to troops there.
We inspected the detainment camps and returned to the United States to fight Obama and his allies who wanted to close it. We produced an advertisement for TV and held a press conference with 9/11 families who also wanted to see justice done.
The results of our efforts, at least in public opinion, are very encouraging as a new Gallup poll that just came out June 3rd, shows the public OVERWHELMINGLY in support of keeping GITMO open and overwhelmingly OPPOSED to Obama’s policies.
According to these latest poll numbers Americans are
STRONGLY against closing the detention centers at Gitmo
VERY STRONGLY against moving Gitmo prisoners to their local states
Say that Gitmo should NOT be closed and WOULD BE UPSET if it was closed anyway
NOT BUYING Obama’s argument that Gitmo made America less safe (only 18% agree with that)
Republican and Independents LARGELY agree that we SHOULD NOT close Gitmo
Democrats by only a very slim majority say we SHOULD close it
Even most Democrats do not buy Obama’s argument that Gitmo hurt American security

The poll indicates that Americans tend to be emotionally invested in the outcome of the policy—7 in 10 say they would be “upset” if Obama does not follow their preferred course of action on the issue. However, most of the highly charged sentiment comes from those who oppose closing the prison.
This poll was conducted from May 29-31 and has only a 3 point spread margin of error!
This is very encouraging information for our efforts. Even as Obama moves ahead with his ill-conceived plans, trying to apologize for the last administration’s policies which KEPT US SAFE. Obama is IGNORING public opinion and pandering to America’s enemies, which will never work, as history shows.
And as this Gallup poll shows, Americans are wise to whats going on, and they have NOT had the wool pulled over their eyes by Obama’s high flying rhetoric.

Valid points. But don’t believe he is governing so much as led by his left wing ideology. He is a master actually of disguising it, backing away when needed and misleading those who smell it out.
He’s Saul Alinsky to the core.
Sometimes you think the inexperience is the reason for obvious faults but really it’s not errors in his mind. He believes some of those things advance his left wing agenda.
In his anti-Reagan approach, many of us wonder how can you bankrupt America. He looks at it as the fulfillment of leaving only one option: more socialism.
So it’s not inexperience at all. It’s an agenda.
I suspect that we are arguing the same point. I don’t disagree with anything that you just said.
Sadly for our nation, it seems we both see the same danger.
Well to be more precise, the men and women of the media would desperately want him to poll, err, pole dance for them.
I think all FReepers see it. at the moment, with congress constituted as it is, we are powerless to prevent it. We can complicate and delay it, but ultimately, elections have consequences.
I just hope that the electorate spits out the kool-aid in the mid-term elections.
The anger is building out there, folks.
Its going to be interesting to see how Obama handles it as public sentiment turns increasingly against him. I doubt he will show the poise that W did.
People like him just thrive on public approval and hero worship.

He will blame Republicans saying it is their no votes that are keeping Gitmo open. It will be the party of “No” depsite the fact he has vetoproof majorities.
And that is what the SRM (Staterun Media) will report. And the sheeple will go: Republicans Baaaaaaaaaad Obaaaaaaaahma Goooooood!
Yes but Obama is being brave like Bush and ignoring public opinion because he understands how it’s existence endangers America. He wants to remove the bad stain Gitmo has with the moslem world. This is the US 4 year apology tour. Get used to it. We have a lot a scraping and bowing to go.
But hey, if he’s doubling down on crushing radical arab, africans and pashtuns in Pakistan and Afghanistan do we really care if Gitmo gets closed? Or what comes out of his mouth for that matter? I’m beginning to think the ruling class in the Middle East wanted this guy for cover while a mass extermination of radicals was accomplished. I’m just saying. It looks like we are going huge in Indian country under this guy.
They didn’t unleash 21,000 nephew Urkels of Uncle Obama on Afghanistan. They unleashed 21,000 special ops forces, each individually capable of unleashing holy hell on all that stands in their path. The face is Urkel The reality is something entirely different.
