Mortality indeed stalks us all. But I'm talking about the death culture—abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia.
The death peddlers here and abroad seek to remove legal protection from pro-life doctors who refuse to perform abortion, refer for abortion, or participate in euthanasia. Euphemisms like "reproductive freedom," the "right to choose," and "death with dignity" justify the assault on our patient's lives and our rights of conscience. But in the midst of this inversion of right and wrong, pro-life doctor groups worldwide are banding together to form a Hippocratic Registry of Physicians.
Admittedly, physicians were not always healers. Millennia ago, healers used their power and status in society to kill and otherwise take advantage of the weak and helpless. Hippocrates, or someone like him, recognized the problem, and that is how we came to have the oath the public thinks we doctors all take, the Oath of Hippocrates.
Physicians who sign on to the Hippocratic Registry acknowledge the oath's six concepts: transcendence, which means submission to a higher authority; medicine as a moral, not just technical, activity; respect for life, meaning no abortion or euthanasia; a covenant between the physician and patient, not just a code of conduct; physician honesty and integrity; and collegiality between like-minded physicians.
Of course, we doctors don't take Hippocrates' Oath any longer and haven't for decades. New doctors recite a much changed charge filled with superficial, contemporary language, if they recite anything at all. Hippocrates' Oath has been relegated to the dustbin of modern ethical thought. "I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody if asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly, I will not give a woman an abortive remedy," it reads.
The legalization of abortion in America meant the Oath was out. But even with abortion legalized, pro-life physicians could still practice according to their consciences. The American College of OB/GYN, however, threw down the gauntlet in November 2007 with its Ethics Statement No. 385, which defined any OB/GYN doctor who did not perform or refer for abortion as unethical. The American Board of OB/GYN quickly followed with a new requirement that an OB/GYN doctor had to agree with the ethics of the College to pass the OB/GYN boards. Washington state and Oregon have declared euthanasia (assisted suicide) a legal activity in their states. Peter Singer, Professor of Bioethics at Princeton, advocates infanticide when he writes, "killing a disabled infant is not morally equivalent to killing a person. Very often it is not wrong at all."
So, how do I respond to this challenge to my rights of conscience as a pro-life OB/GYN physician in this age? If my rights of conscience are legislated away, how long before the state revokes my license to practice medicine for refusing to perform or refer for abortion? How long before admission to medical school requires a promise to support death? (Get rid of those troublesome pro-lifers at the front end.)
This Hippocratic Registry of Physicians encourages me. The group includes doctors of any faith who value life and the tenets of Hippocrates' Oath. Although in its infancy, one could imagine a similar registry of other medical organizations such as hospitals, nursing homes, hospice organizations, pharmacies—a literal competing health-care system that honors life.
As our society "advances" to barbarisms abandoned millennia ago, I pray Hippocrates' idea will again catch fire and people will once again seek care from doctors with whom their life is safe and sacred—no matter what.

I've been wondering what practicing physicians who are against baby killing are feeling now that President Obortion is rapidly deconstructing every foundational support this nation was built on, putting them in his cross-hairs.
When I've brought it up in conversation with doctors they seem to not want to talk about it.

"As an OB/GYN physician, I had to spend time in the busiest abortion clinic in Iowa when I was in residency; so I saw abortion, up close and personal, and spoke to the women seeking abortion. In the following paragraphs, I describe, in some detail, abortion mill procedures and especially the late-term abortions for which Mr. Tiller gained his fame. If you would prefer not to be exposed to such details, you may want to skip to the last couple paragraphs.
"The usual first trimester abortion (up to 14 weeks) done in a typical abortion mill takes 10 minutes, max, for an experienced abortionist in a well-organized abortuary. An abortion-minded woman or girl calls an abortion clinic because she thinks she may be pregnant and is considering abortion. Most don’t call already determined to have an abortion. She is, however, drawn in by careful words.“Oh, you're pregnant,” the receptionist says, confirming the pregnancy without a test. Then, the receptionist confirms her worst fears.”You’re right,” she says,“a pregnancy now in your situation (boyfriend not supportive, may have to quit school, mom and dad won’t approve, too young, too old, too poor and on) would ruin your life. We can help.” The receptionist makes clear the cost and the cash needed and offers suggestions about how to get the money from family, friends, loans, savings or other relatives, because the need is so great and the abortion-minded girl doesn’t want her life ruined. Once she arrives for the abortion appointment, the receptionist collects the cash before anything is done. Once the cash is in the drawer, the young girl sees a faux-counselor who confirms with her the great need to end the pregnancy. The nurses or medical assistants turn over rooms like lightening to keep the abortionist working.They clean only visible blood off the table or floor. Any hesitation to back out on the girl's part during this process is met with reminders of her ruined life if she delays. The abortionist enters the room with the patient on the table, in the stirrups and ready. Gentle is not a word used to describe the procedure. The typical woman seeking an abortion is young and has never had a baby, so the exam itself is not comfortable, not to mention injecting the novacaine, dilating the cervix and suctioning out the baby. Once done, the canister containing the baby and placenta may be emptied into a container to count arms and legs and identify head, thorax and placenta as confirmation all the parts are out. Many places don’t even do that. The woman may be watched for a short time–very short time–and hustled out the door with a prescription for pain meds and instructions to go to the ER if problems develop.

"An abortion done after 14 weeks entails more risk and more time, but the encouragement to proceed, the tight organization to make maximum money with minimal effort, the quick discharge and use of ER for complications is the same. ...
"Picture this if you can without vomiting. The baby is 3/4 of the way out, wiggling and squirming in the abortionist's hand when he sticks the scissors into the skull. The baby stiffens to the trauma. When the abortionist applies the suction, the baby goes completely limp, dead, is removed and then discarded into the trash.
"Mr. Tiller had no limit on gestational age. He bragged once that he aborted a baby a day before its due date.
"And that, dear reader, is why Mr. Tiller was such a lightening rod for controversy. He was a baby-killing machine, killing mostly those babies who could have survived outside the womb had they been born alive."

The winds of change are surely blowing across America. As Americans are fixated on the economic instability sweeping across our land, immoral agendas are corroding the foundations of our society. “Fair is foul and foul is fair/Hover through the fog and filthy air.” (McBeth - Act I scene i. line 10)
I travel extensively across the South with missionary and pro-life work and have held Respiratory Licenses in numerous states so that when I travel, I can work in Respiratory or Cardiopulmonary in these various states. Last week, I was called into the Arkansas State Board of Medical Examiners. This meeting had nothing to do with the practice of Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary technology or my practice of these disciplines over the last 28 years. The sole purpose of this meeting was over the “A” word.
Before they would give me my license in Arkansas, they wanted to be sure I would not let my staunch defense of life interfere with their agenda. This would seem to be to silence pro-lifers even in Catholic hospitals. After a barrage of questions introduced to label me as a pro-life fanatic unfit to work in any hospital in Arkansas, a member of the Board jumped up and said, “Would you try to talk anyone out of an abortion? We've actually had a few doctors who had the nerve to try to talk their patients out of an abortion.” In answer to their questions, I simply replied, “I only work in Catholic hospitals which do not allow or perform abortions, so this is not an issue.” In response, they said I will be seeing patients who weren't Catholic and those who had obtained an abortion and they didn't want me talking to them about the “A” word. So much for freedom of speech and freedom of religion in Catholic Hospitals.
It would constitute medical malpractice not to inform any patient of the adverse, harmful or deleterious effects of any medical procedure. This is called Informed Consent. It would be totally illogical not to inform a patient of the harm done to body and soul by this procedure except that surgical or chemical abortion is nothing other than the murdering of an innocent baby in his mother's womb; it wouldn't constitute a medical procedure so on these grounds no pre-op would be legally necessary.
A wise friend advised me to practice fortitude and be prudent like St. Thomas Moore when answering the Arkansas State Board's questions. I told him afterward that St. John the Baptist shouted from the rooftops while St. Thomas Moore practiced fortitude and prudence. Yet they both lost their heads. Precluding freedom of speech and freedom of conscience have never been a prerequisite for obtaining a Respiratory Therapy license in the past.
The winds of change are surely blowing and Obama is the windbag.

Since the Hippocratic Oath forbids doctors from sharing the secrets of their trade with anyone who does not take the oath, I’ve sometimes wondered what would happen if a doctor giving a speech at a medical conference were to ask everyone present to either take the Hippocratic Oath or leave.
How long before we won’t be allowed doctors who are not pro abortion, pro euthanasia, and pro gender change?

Tiller was a Board Certified Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Hern, the Boulder Colorado doctor who published the OB/Gyn book describing partial birth abortion is board certified in **Preventive Medicine**!!!!!!
LeRoy Carhart calls himself a General Practitioner, General Surgeon, Family Physician, Emergency Physician. He’s listed by the AMA as a General Surgeon (Self Designated). I can’t find any evidence of Board Certification.
This was 20 years ago, and they were talking about the slippery slope of all this happening within a few years...(I personally found this incredible!...surely not!)
Well, we're there....we've been there for a while, and it's going to get worse!
A simple Google search clearly states the Hyppocratic Oath has been drastically changed/shortened through the years to reflect 'modern times'....
..especially note that the words to protect against abortion & euthanasia have been eliminated, just like the doctor in this WORLD article states!
Just wait...following “your conscience” will become “domestic terrorism” and immediately brand you as an “enemy of the state”
