Fox’s Bill O’Reilly Responds to Criticisms that he Helped Kill Tiller

“The murder of Dr. Tiller, as misguided as he was, can never be condoned,” he says, “But neither can the hateful, dishonest tactics of the far left.”

By Patrick B. Craine

June 5, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Following the killing of late-term abortionist George Tiller on Sunday, blame for the murder has been thrown at the pro-life movement and social conservatives by abortion supporters and by much of the mainstream media. Fox’s Bill O’Reilly, host of ‘The O’Reilly Factor,’ has been one central target of accusations of complicity in Tiller’s death because of his criticism of anti-life measures and, especially, of George Tiller’s gruesome late-term abortion practices. O’Reilly has responded to this criticism, both on his show on Monday, and in an article for TownHall.com on Wednesday.

“When I heard about Tiller’s murder, I knew pro-abortion zealots and Fox News-haters would attempt to blame us for the crime,” said O’Reilly on his Monday show, “and that is exactly what has happened.”

MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, host of ‘Countdown’, for example, criticized O’Reilly and Fox harshly, calling for the end of the news network. He says Fox “shared the blame” for Tiller’s death, and that O’Reilly himself was “the principal perpetrator” at Fox. Olbermann called for “an indirect boycott” of the station. He said: “Fox News Channel will never restrain itself from incitement to murder and terrorism, not until its profits begin to decline or when its growth stops, so not so much a boycott here as a quarantine, because this has got to stop. …The goal is to get this blindly irresponsible man and his ilk off the air.”

In his article, O’Reilly emphasizes that, though Tiller was involved in the gross destruction of human life, nevertheless his murder was gravely wrong. “Shot dead in a church by an anti-government militant, Tiller did not deserve his fate,” he said. “Even though the man destroyed an estimated 60,000 fetuses that could have lived outside the womb, he was an American citizen entitled to protection. No matter what you think about abortion, it is a sad day for the country when vigilantism takes a life.”

Olbermann and others blame O’Reilly particularly for his use of the nickname ‘Tiller the Baby Killer.’ Responding to this criticism in his article for TownHall.com, O’Reilly stated, “Some pro-lifers branded him that, and I reported it. So did hundreds of other news sources.”

“But the bigger picture here,” O’Reilly continues, “is the glorification of Tiller.” He principally criticizes the “uber-liberal” New York Times for its praise of the abortionist, quoting them saying: “For his principled devotion to women's health and constitutionally protected rights, Dr. Tiller was the target of protests at his clinic, his house and his church.”

“The Times made Tiller out to be a hero,” O’Reilly said. “The paper's editorial never mentioned that he aborted fetuses after 21 weeks, when they could live outside the mother's womb. The Times opinion also did not mention that Tiller became a millionaire doing this, or that only three late-term abortion clinics exist in the entire country. Nor did the editorial writer put forth that 36 states restrict late-term abortions without violating the Constitution.”

He criticizes NBC and its anchor Brian Williams still further, however, blaming Williams for “overseeing a report that emphasized the verbal criticism of Tiller rather than the militancy of the person who shot him.” He says, “NBC pundits filled the night with slanderous wails against those who opposed Tiller's deadly practice.”

O’Reilly believes the reports from liberal news media are part of a deliberate campaign of the “far left.” “By exploiting the death of Tiller,” he says, “the far left is seeking to silence Americans who are appalled at late-term abortion. By demonizing people like me who believe that terminating viable fetuses must only be done when there are catastrophic health ramifications, pro-abortion zealots are trying to inhibit dissent on the abortion issue in general.”

O’Reilly concludes his article with a sharp condemnation of the radical liberals behind this campaign. “The murder of Dr. Tiller, as misguided as he was, can never be condoned,” he says, “But neither can the hateful, dishonest tactics of the far left.”

The feds are getting involved to make sure that if a jury of his peers does so, the they will hold a federal case to get the verdict they desire.

What Roeder did was, no doubt, illegal. BUt only because a corrupt set of laws has for far too long protected the practioners of this genocide from the true rule of law. What some German people did in resisting the Nazi holocaust (and they usually died for doing so) was also "illegal"...but in the end that did not protect the perpetratiors of the holocaust from the gallows.

History, and nature's God will ultimately straighten out and right this gross wrong, this gruesome genocide of tens of millions...as another wrong was righted over a four year period in the 1860s, even if that was not the principle reasoning behind that war...it was the emotional and foundational principle that caused the other arguements that led to it. Tragically, this moral evil (which IMHO is even worse) may come to the same kind of end.

You have used the key word, Jeff, delusion. The father of lies, a murderer from the start, uses strong delusion to gather souls to death.

Strong delusion -- Example: George Tiller had available a 'service' for females wishing to use it, where Tiller would murder the unborn child then have a 'goodbye' service, with special clothing and even candles for the just murdered child so the 'mother' could say goodbye to her little one.

The inability of people like Keith Olberman to discern the shear demonic influence in such wickedness is open example of 'strong delusion. The fact that a former head of Planned Parenthood can praise such a murderer and shed tears at his passing is the epitome of strong delusion. And we got to see strong delusion playing out on our TV screens when a former head of NOW smiled vacuously and told viewers that what Tiller did 'for women and children' made lies of the characterizations of him as a monster ... and she had her hair neatly trimmed and make up tastefully applied, and even polished her teeth to smile for the cameras ... but her smile was vacant, empty, the reflection of a dead soul willingly supine under strong delusion.

When we listen to people praising an evil man--Tiller--and his evil, wicked 'service to women's health' (read serial murdering of alive unborn children), we ought remember what the Bible says about 'strong delusion' because we are witnessing it first-hand, and it will only grow stronger as Amerika rejects God's Grace in Christ and embraces the demonic of Islam.

You nailed it, Jeff, we are witnessing strong delusion.

I doubt Oreilly ever said anything about Tiller that Olbermann et al didn’t say about Bush.

Leftoids celebrated the deaths of Tony Snow and Ronald Reagan and cheered when Laura Ingraham was diagnosed with breast cancer. Yet they have the audacity to get indignant when an incident like this happens?

Far as I am concerned they can put their indignation where the sun dont shine. In another circumstance they would argue that a heated debate is healthy, and frankly, you cant be talking about aborting a near term fetus and not expect some pretty strong words to be used. Because a lot of people consider that closer to infanticide than abortion.

The simple fact of the matter is that Tiller should have been serving live in prison for his mass murders, and he wouldn’t have been shot. The real fault lies with our legal system that allowed Tiller to remain free, and a culture that allowed Tiller to practice infanticide. Blaming pro-lifers is lunacy. We are the people who want to end all of the killing.

With people like Tiller, I never had an ounce of “Give-A-Damn” to run out of anyway. A damn wealthy killer with cover from the politicians of his state. His final resting place is between himself and God. I am grateful that such a matter is not mine to decide frankly, but his temporal role and actions are such that I am not afraid to say that he is no loss to humanity.

Again, you are spot on and echo my exact thoughts on this.

I have to admit though, I have been rather hesitant to opine on these particular threads...you never know who may be out there compiling a "list"...paranoid, I know :(

Has this been verified? If so, how can anyone in their right mind refer to the murdered infant as a "lump of tissue"??

Has it been verified? ... Earlier in this same thread, a poster offered this link: http://thegeorgetillermemorial.com/

Sad to say, yes, it has been verified, and for those under strong delusion is further 'proof' that Tiller was a 'compassionate doctor' (read possessed monster serial killer).

I'm in agreement with the overall assessment, but have to take exception with Keith Olberman being representative of strong delusion. His is a clinical example of brain damage from a closed head wound in childhood. His shrill antics are entertaining to the left. He's being put on display for amusement, rather like teenagers making the town drunk dance for his "supper."

So, he dances. Olberman gets notoriety and money, instead of a cheap bottle of Ripple, though.

‘... how can anyone in their right mind refer to the murdered infant as a “lump of tissue”??’ You’re starting to get the gist of what is ‘strong delusion’!

But never lose sight of this being a propaganda war. MSNBC has staked out grotesque positions time again accusing America of war crimes and inciting Muslim hatred - to kill our troops. Wrongful accusations of US atrocities, by that pompous jerk, a freak show carnival barker and the circus performer that follows him, but they are not journalists, they are propagandists. Is MSNBC responsible for the deaths of US troops, well if they are to lay blame on BOR for Tiller then MSNBC is guilty of causing our troops to be killed.

In the final calculus the world losing Tiller, while wrong, is no where near the loss to our nation of one American soldier - instigated by the lies of MSNBC. So I would say to readers to respond to MSNBC, and their false accusations of US atrocities and indict them of the sins they now project onto BOR. MSNBC lied about our troops but BOR did not lie about the monstrous activity of Tiller.

Gee, maybe it’s the fact that Tiller insisted on killing viable babies that got him killed ... I’m just sayin’.

Yeah, O’Reilly is a POS. It’s funny, the most animated I have seen him (other than the Barney Frank episode) was when GE took a dive. You could just tell that O’Reilly lost his ass on their stock’s drop, probably had a bunch of shares. So he’s all over that issue and that CEO Immelt (who is also a POS). But his transparently phony fence-sitting on so many issues is so nauseating, I barely watch him anymore. He does ‘profit from the right’ as you mention. And then he sells the right down the river to get a little stronger audience rating, all for his ego. Meanwhile, he could actually be helping the country when the country most needs high profile people to tell the truth, aggressively, every day. But he chooses to be a phony POS instead.

“the far left is seeking to silence Americans who are appalled at late-term abortion.

Evil abortionists want to make sure the babies do not have any voice. Murder is much easier when the victim can not cry out or complain.

By his own admission, Tiller butchered 60,000 and more, and yet a corrupt law, that has protected the practioners in this gruesome holocaust, protected the man from the true rule of law.

Sickening. Deserving of the death penalty no doubt yet,

directly back into the arms of the Lord Jesus.

Thank you, you are absolutely correct.

The picture at that link I supplied, though it is graphic, and though it is almost impossible to be borne, is a representation of the awful truth of this delusion and will burn through the depravity of that delusion...perhaps not for those wholly taken in it, who will respond with anger, hate, and accusations in an attempt to hide and put down the truth...but it will shine the light of truth for all those not yet taken by it.

No one, with one centilla of honor, virtue, or truth coursing through their veins can look at that picture and call the procedure that results in it "good", "lawful", a free "choice", or right in any way. It is murder, greuesom, bloody, genocidal murder of a living human in the womb.
