SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea convicted two American journalists and sentenced them Monday to 12 years of hard labor for crossing into its territory, intensifying the reclusive nation's confrontation with the United States. The Obama administration said it would pursue "all possible channels" to win the release of Laura Ling and Euna Lee, reporters for former Vice President Al Gore's San Francisco-based Current TV media venture.

Good lesson for far-left liberals to find out just how far-left North Korea really is.

Except they'll find a way to blame Bush!

Wow, some members of the MSM are actually going to have to do some work. I never thought I'd see that day.

Be careful what you ask for. Don’t put it past Zero to “win” their sudden release. For North Korea it makes them appear magnanimous on the world stage and behind the scenes they will have extorted from the inexperienced Obammer a promise to leave them alone as they develop their nukes. And a neophyte like Bambi not only will promise them that but will keep this one promise because he’s afraid of the goons (for good reason).

He’ll offer them Slo Joe Biden instead. No, take that back. If he does that he forfeits the one thing that might stand in the way of his future impeachment—the horror of Slo Joe as President.

Why don't they send Madeline not-so-bright? She was with the Clinton-Gore administration.

Yeah, but what’s in it for the North Koreans to take her in exchange for the two reporterettes? There’s got to be some incentive, something in it for the NKs.

That’s why I think Bambi will “win” their release to the unending applause of multitudes around the globe while, in agreeing quietly to let North Korea do whatever it damn well pleases in the future.

Of course that’s what he was going to let North Korea do anyway, so it’s no problem for him to agree to that.

On the other hand, the North Koreans pretty much know he won’t do anything to stop them anyway. So he really doesn’t have much leverage. But Kim Jong Il may just be in the mood to win applause around the world and Bambi won’t mind basking in Kimmie’s shadow and Kimmie probably won’t mind letting Bambi have a share—might prove useful somewhere down the road.

So don’t count the Community-Organizer-in-Chief’s diplomatic skills out yet.

Why exactly did these people cross a border into a closed nation?
No reason to sentence them to 12 years but what exactly did these people think would happen if they got caught?

They've been fond of cold, hard cash in the past. And expensive brandy. I wish I were making that up.
