Now I really am crying. I have tried to have a stiff upper lip, telling myself not to give way to feelings of prejudice, but that outfit of layers is an insult to every American who ever was an overseas tourist.

That is just downright MEAN. No one can think that looks good. Even people in native costume in national ceremonies are better coordinated than that.

This proves to me that MO wished she were not American, but a citizen queen of some kind of superworld.

Her brocade (or some other very formal fabric) caped outfit on inauguration day looked so much like what the queen of England wears walking up the aisle of Westminster Abbey for her coronation. fashionable? I don't think so.
