The Food and Drug Administration warned consumers Monday not to use skin products made by Clarcon because of high levels of disease-causing bacteria found during a recent inspection.

Clarcon Biological Chemistry Laboratory Inc. of Roy, Utah, issued a voluntary recall of some skin sanitizers and skin protectants marketed under several different brand names, the FDA said in a statement.

Consumers should not use any Clarcon products and should throw them away, the FDA said.

I stick with Purell. I have it all over the place, in my house, office, car, garage and carry a tiny bottle in my hand bag for before and after Metro. And I always use the sanitizer on my cart at the grocery store and hardware store. I know, I am an obsessive, but if you lived where I live, you would bathe in it, too. And Lysol is my friend.

It's the next best thing to bourbon.

I don’t know what else it has in it, but it contains aloe, which needs to be kept refrigerated or it spoils. If it has alcohol, it must not have enough to act as a preservative.

I don’t need sissy hand sanitizer.

My Immune system doesn’t mess around, like George Carlin said. Germs go “straight to the Colon.” He used to swim in the east river, btw.

LOL.. Everyone with two brain cells in the medical profession knows these are ineffective against many microbes. Soap and water goes a long way. I think hand sanitizers are a crutch and cause high rates of cross contamination from people who simply won’t take 2 or 3 minutes to wash with soap and water. Make your care providers wash with soap and water... sing the ABC song while they wash and do not be afraid to ask.

no offense intended if you use the stuff.

I am just not even the slightest ‘germ-conscious’

Kids have to get sick to build up immunity. We can’t create sterile environments, although washing hands or using hand sanitizer should be done after going to the bathroom and I do wash, WITH SOAP.

After MRSA showed up in one of the local schools, everybody went on a hand sanitizer kick, only to find out that it doesn’t work against MRSA.

Soap and water with good handwashing is the better way to go, anyway. We are creating “super bugs” with all these sanitizers. The strongest bacteria survive the sanitizers and become more prevalent.

I’m not a fanatic, but I use Purell after handling restaurant menus and before picking up the silverware or coffee cup.

I also never use the kid’s seat area on shopping carts. That’s where the pee is.
