Catching up with Friday night's Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO, guest D.L. Hughley -- the actor/comedian who until recently had a show on CNN -- insisted you never saw drugs or drive-byes or homeless people in inner-cities before Reagan cut social programs and became the Moses of...greedy white men. Left-wing blogger Jeremy Scahill predicted some guys will pull down the new Capitol rotunda Reagan statue and drag it through the street like the Saddam statue with some kid hitting it with a shoe.
Pegged to the placement of the new statute of Ronald Reagan, Hughley declared: I didn't love Ronald Reagan. Maher echoed I didn't either, and then Hughley launched a rant with distortions of quotes from Ronald Reagan, as he recalled:
I grew up in Los Angeles inner city -- you never saw drugs or drive-byes or homeless people or anything like that. All the social programs that were cut as a result of Reagan coming into office and greed just became a hobby....I remember watching...him say people in America who are homeless are homeless because they want to be. That seemed to be one of the most-- and I was a kid -- I knew how cruel that was and I would never, you know, ascribe any level of greatness to somebody who would say, you know, if somebody's hungry in America it's because they're on a diet. Like that, to me, made greedy white men feel good about being greedy white men. He was the kind of the Moses of leading them to feeling good about being greedy white men. So to me he wasn't a great man.

He must have forgotten all the riots back then.
If I remember correctly, we also didn’t have all the social programs we have now.
Can we now state those programs didn’t work?
I am so sick of the gratuitous racist denigrations spewed out by the Left against white people. Never is there any acknowledgement that white men created THE ONLY Constitution of true freedom on the planet, or the hundreds of thousands of white men that laid down their lives to free black slaves, or any of the inumerable sacrifices white people have made towards the freedom of not only this country, but the entire world.
It's hate speech. It's old, it's vicious, it's ugly, and it's intent is evil. It brings no peace, no understanding, only division and rage, and it's not funny. And until it ends there will be NO healing, NO peace, and NO abiding freedom for anyone. It makes me sick.

The greatest irony of all is that Muslim Arabs ran the slave bazaars and bought and sold men of color; yet so many blacks are embracing Islam. Another great irony is that the lighter Muslims look down on the black Muslims,
Post Colonial, the black dictators of the African nations have consistently mistreated their black brethren much more harshly than the white Europeans ever did. They do so today.I do wish big mouthed brainless blacks like this so called entertainer/celebrity had to live six months in any African country--pick any one, without help or care packages from the US. They are so ungrateful for what they have access to here--race baiting and hate is all they know.

Well said, thanks.
Oh, dear. Bill Maher and some racist comedian didn’t like Ronald Reagan. Oh, noes!
More PR bs. They are working overtime turning it up a notch.
in the “Age of Obama”, not only is this type of talk encouraged, overt racism is also.
Wow. During Carter years was so joyful...who would have known? /sarc.
Very well said.
Hey D.L., what’s it like to be fired by two loser networks (ABC and CNN)? Jackass!
How would he know? He was in diapers back then!
Please go to greedywhitemen.com and support this sorely abused underclass of American citizens so often reviled by American media today...
Not to mention, we works our bloody arses off to support most of them as well as ourselves. Wouldn't it be nice, just once, to not have to do that???
Repatriate!
you never saw drugs or drive-byes or homeless people in inner-cities before Reagan cut social programs “
The putz doesn’t seem to understand that shortly before Reagan became POTUS, the ACLU won a major lawsuit requiring the ‘mentally challenged’ to be freed from institutions where they had been kept historically. They were released and became the street/bag people. It happened on Carter’s watch.
As to drugs and drive-by’s ... try to figure THAT logic. Folks had their welfare benefits cut but they could afford drugs, weapons and vehicles?
Where DO they find these people ???
Bill Maher needs to book a flight today to interview George Tiller in his nice and toasty new home.
