I would consider it good practice to keep the data secret — not because of any meteors, but because of classified satellite capabilities:
1. Imaging (resolution, spectral range)
2. Transmission bandwidth.
3. Orbital location.
4. Orbital maneuvering.
And goodness knows what else that can be deduced.

I think it more likely that they don't want to release data because of what can be deduced from the data about the capabilities and sensitivity of these classified satellite sensors.
