Judge blocks phone for suspect in soldier shooting
AP - Friday, June 12

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A judge has blocked jail telephone access for a man accused of killing a soldier outside an Army recruiting center in Arkansas.

Abdulhakim Muhammad, 23, has called The Associated Press twice this week to discuss the shooting of Pvt. William Andrew Long.

Little Rock District Judge Alice Lightle sent a letter to the Pulaski County jail, ordering jailers to bar Muhammad from using the phone, except to speak to his lawyer.

A spokesman for the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office declined Thursday to release the judge's letter to the AP.

Muhammad, a Muslim convert, previously said he didn't consider the killing a murder because U.S. military action in the Middle East made the killing justified.

Why did he even have phone access? I thought calls were limited when you’re in jail. Certainly, calling in your letter to the editor wouldn’t be one of them.

I bet he's trying to make sure he can't get a jury anywhere in the country.

On the other hand, if I were the judge, I would rule that this falls under the category of "self-induced error" or "invited error". If he can't get a fair trial because the jury pool has heard about the case and formed opinions, it's his own fault for talking to the media.

‘Not the end of it,’ says suspect in soldier’s slaying
By Kelly P. Kissel THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Thursday, June 11, 2009

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Muslim convert accused of killing a soldier outside an Army recruiting center said Wednesday he is not aware of any similar attacks planned against the military on American soil.

Abdulhakim Muhammad of Little Rock told The Associated Press that FBI agents visited him in the Pulaski County Jail and asked if other attacks were planned. Muhammad said he told the agents he didn’t know of any specific plans.

However, he warned of danger ahead.

“I don’t know anything that’s in the works,” Muhammad said in a collect telephone call from the jail. “We’re not going to turn the other cheek. It’s definitely not the end of it.”

That's gonna hurt in court. Can this perp be hung for his crime? Please?

That's very possible. Maybe Obama will send him to Bermuda with the rest of the gang.

Indeed, why in hell did he have phone access from the start, enabling him to go to public opinion and affect jury selection??????

This instance manifests the suicidal process of allowing terrorists to use the American judicial system as a tool in their unerring goal to murder Americans and freedom and liberty.

Kinda reminds me of the current health care 'debate/takeover'.

Arkansas has the death penalty. So does the federal government. Arkansas has executed 27 or so since 1976 when the death penalty was reinstated. They use lethal injection according to the information I was able to find So does the Federal government.

That's too good for scum like this. Since the target of this scum was "any solider", it should come under military control, and they could then hang the SOB, except that the military process is often even slower to play out than the state or federal systems' processes.

Maybe we'll luck out and he'll be "found" after his "suicide".
