Australia's Connor Court Publishing is creating waves again.
First the pro-free speech heretics published Professor Ian Plimer's Heaven and Earth - a skeptic's guide to global warming, a runaway bestseller. What's more, the European Union President endorsed it.
Now? The publisher informs me (via email) that a new book is on the way: The Climate Caper. Details are also available on their website:
So you think the theory of disastrous climate change has been proved! You believe that scientists are united in their efforts to force the nations of the world to reduce their carbon emissions! You imagine perhaps that scientists are far too professional to overstate their case!
It seems that governments are indeed becoming captive to a scientific and technological elite - an elite which is achieving its ends by manipulating fear of climate change into the world's greatest example of a religion for the politically correct.
Who is Australia's latest out-of-order heretic? Emeritus Professor Garth Paltridge is an atmospheric physicist and was a Chief Research Scientist with the CSIRO Division of Atmospheric Research before taking up positions in Tasmania as Director of the Institute of Antarctic and Southern Ocean Studies and CEO of the Antarctic Cooperative Research Centre. He retired in 2002 and continues to live in Hobart. He is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Tasmania and a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University.
His research ranged from the optimum design of plants to the economics of climate forecasting. He is best known internationally for work on atmospheric radiation and the theoretical basis of climate. He is a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science.
Put it this way: he's even smarter than Obama, the elite "Austrian language" specialist.
Furthermore, Australia's fabulous snowfields are arguing with the global-warming movement. Forget all those doom-and-gloom predictions. The APP (June 11, 2009) reports:
THE best start to a snow season in a decade should have all of Australia's major ski fields up and running by the weekend.
Extensive snowfalls this week have created a good base at all the major NSW and Victorian ski resorts with more snow due over the next two days.
So am I. Can I be president? I was born in this country of American born parents. But then, instead of being a Kenyan-African, I am a mere Deutschlander-Amerikan.
Meh, Gore has made his mega-millions already... /sarcasm.
btw, we here in S. Utah are now at 20 degrees below normal. And have been so for a while. It should be AT LEAST 105 here right now, and we are going to be 85 today.
*paging Al Gore. The City of St. George is wondering why they can’t charge more for electricity for AC. Please pick up the white phone at your earliest convenience!*
IIRC Australia had a cold winter last year.
FWIW, I live 2.5 degrees south of the equator. Only 2.5 degrees away from it. Elevation is maybe 300 feet.
This morning’s temp was 75 degrees F.
There is no global warming.
bflr
Here in normally sweltering St. Louis, we’ve had the AC on maybe six days this year. What’s the point when it’s cooler outside?
