NEW YORK – Sarah Palin would no doubt be horrified by the idea, but there's a chance she could become the same boon to David Letterman's career that Hugh Grant was to Jay Leno's.
The story had the effect of turning the attention to Letterman at a critical time, during the second week of his new competition with Leno's replacement, Conan O'Brien.
Palin may have inadvertently given Letterman a platform at a time when it is most valuable; the next few weeks will show how he's been able to use it.

yep...way overtime for letterman to go. He was never funny. Only at other’s expense. Couldnt do it without laughing and making fun of others. Only thing that puzzles me is that he must have a home void of all mirrors cause if he had mirrors in his house and actually took a look at his own ridiculous self...he would NEVER make fun of anyone ever again MUCH LESS a 14 year old girl. Shame on him. it is time for him to go. Those kinds of over the line remarks are unacceptable no matter WHO says them and as an older man he has not right to be even thinking that or saying something so ridiculous. Willow Palin is an young teenager. Simple that. letterman has no right to talk about someone like that. Let him talk about his own family members if he has to spew such garbage but not about anyone else. Especially a 14 year old minor. Does he have a problem or something? Letterman, himself, "knocked up" a really ugly woman that worked for him and he subsequently married her. The timing of which coincides with him turning bitter and angry..
So that might explain why he rails at a beautiful, happy, family like the Palins..
This guy is so not funny. Always has been, always will be. I hope his obnoxious behavior will be just the start of his downfall. If Conan OBrian is topping him in ratings a year from now, he will be near suicidal.

SHE gave him nothing. He did it to her and her family. He made the "joke" about the rape of a 14-year old and refuses to show any remorse.
It is a sad commentary on his writers and handlers and him and those who watch his show that this type of monologue could be considered "funny".
I never liked Letterman. I think that his wife & he look quite a bit alike. Both ugly. I agree he was never funny & I think it is past time for his retirement. I don’t know anybody who even watches his show....

Here’s the next trap for Palin: On upcoming interviews the media will keep asking her about Letterman, so they can say she’s “piling on.” What Palin should have done on Lauer is slam the door on the incident. She rebuked him, put Letterman and the Left on the defensive, and she clearly won this round. Now it’s time to put it behind her or else the media is going to portray her as “milking it.”
