I’ve been reading various new accounts for an hour now- it seems the young people of Iran are enraged over the cheating in the election. Interesting updates from Twitter here: http://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/comments/8sbor/twitterers_posting_from_inside_iran/

Sounds like all hell is breaking loose there.

Michael Totten has some amazing videos here:

Frankly, I don’t mind if they off that pig Rafsanjani. He is a mullah crook himself.

The situation has to reach eventually the point (I’ll give it some time though) that the regime is opposed, not just the current cabinet.

Down with Ahmadinejad and the islamic regime!!!

IMO Twitter has the best coverage with lots of links to other breaking news and commentary.

Unfortunately Tehran has severed all telecomm (including domestic?) and Internet (definitely including Twitter).

And a very popular bonus discussion of CNN’s trashy decision to totally ignore the Iran protests all day Saturday:

Gee, political opposition leaders in house, or worse, arrest within 24 hours of an election in Iran. Is this a new, groundbreaking precedent for countries who watch Iran closely and are “EXCITED” about the “democratic” process in IRAN to consider for implementation in their own countries in the future? Gee, lose an election in a democratic country and win a “Go to Jail” card? How PROGRESSIVE and innovative! What a CHANGE!

Thank you George W and the American Military for the strategic decision to help the Iraqi people to establish a democracy that will spread throughout the region.

The biggest nightmare to the left in America:

The violent overthrow of the mullah theocracy in Iran accompanied by freedom fighters holding pictures of W and calling him the father of a new Iranian democratic rule!

How many tens of thousands of people marching in protest does it take for CNN to acknowledge that it's happening (in Iran)?

CNN will notice and report on the following:

One Republican trashing another Republican

Five Gay Men Protesting anything

Six Members of NOW complaining about any conservative

Eight Blacks angry with cops

Thirty Union Members picketing a company

Here's the groups that "don't make the CNN cut":

1,000 democrats criticizing one corrupt democrat

400,000 tea party protesters

A million Iranians bravely standing up to their oppressors.

Sounds like Iran’s Tianamen Square to me. So-called “reformers” and real dissidents will be rounded up and eliminated one way or another, followed by “nothing to see here” by the mullahs who really run things. Meanwhile, Obama won’t lift a finger.

BBC says election broadcasts disrupted from Iran

This sounds less and less like a revolution and more like a coup by the mullahocracy against the somewhat more democratic elements in Iran. If this drives whatever remains of the opposition further towards the west, good. A shame for Persia that people like Obama would be their to meet them.

Ahmadinejad's Moscow-supported dictatorship reacts identically to the voters outrage at the Tehran régime's election fraud. Putin should be very happy.

An Iranian supporter of Mir Hossein Mousavi is beaten by Ahmadinejad's thugs!

Obama seems strangely silent. I guess he doesn’t know which side to support.... LOL...

That shows severe lack of leadership.

Let’s keep some perspectiuve here.

From the ‘moderate’ Rafsanjani:

RAFSANJANI SAYS MUSLIMS SHOULD USE NUCLEAR WEAPON AGAINST ISRAEL

http://www.iran-press-service.com/articles_2001/dec_2001/rafsanjani_nuke_threats_141201.htm

Please show me where the protesters who are yelling Allahu Akbar are opposed to Iran having nukes.
