AMA report questions science behind using hormones as anti-aging treatment

The American Medical Association is taking on a segment of the $50 billion "anti-aging" industry that promotes the use of hormones as a treatment for consumers to slow or reverse the aging process. In a report presented Sunday in Chicago to a committee of the AMA's 543-member policymaking House of Delegates, the AMA Council on Science and Public Health calls into question claims made by for-profit Web sites, anti-aging clinics and other businesses promoting hormones as anti-aging treatments. "Despite the widespread promotion of hormones as anti-aging agents by for-profit Web sites, anti-aging clinics and compounding pharmacies, the scientific evidence to support these claims is lacking," the council said in its report. The nation's largest physicians group says it currently has no policy on anti-aging. But several specialty groups of physicians testified Sunday on the lack of scientific evidence to support anti-aging benefits. In addition, doctors worry about potential dangers of using hormones as anti-aging treatments.

Wondering, my older sister comes up with some really good ones in those types of cases as well. I laugh at them as well.

I first heard that theory from a member of her own family. The amount of bizarre potions (some from the doctors and some from God only knows where) that she took was unbelievable, all in a vain attempt to remain young.

Look, I don’t know why you are writing this stuff to me. All I want to do is feel better and hormones make me feel better and I am tired of sand paper skin. I don’t care to look like I am 16 or 25. I am not. If I did; I would probably go buy a low neck blouse and short skirt with very high heels; and it wouldn’t matter to me what I looked like because I would think I looked great if I dared where that outfit at any age. And I never would.

Luckily...after 25+ years I found a great doctor! (Otherwise, I agree with you!)

I am very sorry, I did not want to offend you!

I saw your post 4 to Wastedyears, who said: "I'll volunteer for ant-aging." To what you said: "Me too since my doctor took me off hormones." Then your discussions with ditter and Nathan surely talks about PMS's and hot flashes, etc., including pets!!

My postings to you was sharing information (which I think this forum is all about?) that there are some other women who have been helped with feminine problems by other means than of prescription drugs, as well as HGH Secretagogue's ability to start producing your own hormones by waking up the Pituitary gland, which helped my mother-in-law to feel much better at the age of 90. And she also got the benefits of looking younger on top of it. I was trying to say anything about your looks (your post 104.) Again I apologize if offended you!!!
