Once again, Will distills the argument to the meat and potatoes, and exposes the government position for the sham that it truly is.
Will and all of the rest miss the big problem with this whole concept, any government run option will lead to a single payer plan for all Americans.
Insurance costs are based on the law of probabilities. They decrease the costs of coverage to the individual by distributing the risk to a pool of people. With a "free" to the individual system businesses will begin to move away from providing coverage at their expense...they would be stupid not to. The net result from this is to reduce the "risk-pool" available to the insurance companies and force them to raise premiums further.
This is a self-perpetuating process that will eventually force everyone who is not wealthy into a government run program. The process is inevitable with a government run alternative and I believe it is the intent behind this "option" being offered by Obama and the Dems.
The claim from Obama and his minions that, "Everyone who is happy with the plan they have will be able to keep that plan," is a flat out lie.
