Reports: Wife of Rep. Conyers threatened with indictment @ 3:42 pm by Michael O'Brien
Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers, the wife of longtime Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) received a letter Tuesday indicating a pending indictment from federal authorities on corruption-related charges.
Conyers received a pre-indictment letter instructing her to reach a plea deal with prosecutors by the end of the week or face charges, according to Detroits two papers, the Free Press and News.
The investigation involves whether Conyers took bribes to switch her vote on a $1.2 billion contract with Synagro Technologies to handle disposal of Detroit's sludge. Conyers, who served as head of the City Council after the ouster of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, has been under investigation for some time for her connections to the deal.
The News reported that Conyers is considering a plea bargain, but is reluctant to serve jail time as part of a deal with prosecutors.
Rep. Conyers is chairman of the influential House Judiciary Committee.
You can bet John will get Moronica off. We should all hope that the prosecutor considering the indictment is black. The race card won’t be off the table, but it will be a bit closer to the edge. Maybe their soul brother, Brother Barack, will issue executive clemency or some such shenanigan.
Look for Obama to start lopping off heads.
