Obama blocks list of visitors to White House (another BROKEN campaign promise)
MSNBC.com ^ | 6-16-2009 | Bill Dedman

The Obama administration is fighting to block access to names of visitors to the White House, taking up the Bush administration argument that a president doesn't have to reveal who comes calling to influence policy decisions.

Despite President Barack Obama's pledge to introduce a new era of transparency to Washington, and despite two rulings by a federal judge that the records are public, the Secret Service has denied msnbc.com's request for the names of all White House visitors from Jan. 20 to the present. It also denied a narrower request by the nonpartisan watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which sought logs of visits by executives of coal companies.

Updated: CREW says it filed suit Tuesday against the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Secret Service. Here's a copy of CREW's complaint.

Tsk, tsk, obozo. Another campaign promise broken. What will your supporters think? After criticizing former Pres. Bush, you promised transparency and reneged.

They seemed pissed... But it doesn’t reflect in the Polls so apparently this is fake outrage on their side.

Check out the way AP reported this story. Does AP have the ability to write ONE negative story about Obama without bringing Bush or Cheney into it? Do you think it's possible?

America will be attacked from within and instructed from the white house by Barry. I think he is a sleeper cell.

Transparency and Open Government—This administration will be the most transparent in US History.

Balh, blah, blah.

Tonight, MSNBC’s freakish evening commentators will be indignant, outraged and strident in their demands for transparency of these lists.

Obama getting a little tired of sneaking out to get his nose candy and pot? He doesn’t want it known when his dealer and friend, Bill Ayers comes to visit?

SCUMBAGS in the whitehouse! It sure is going to need extensive fumigating after Obama is booted out.

I seem to recall people here defending Bush for adopting the exact same policy.

Makes it easier to whisk folks like Ayers and Dohrn in and out.

Obama campaigned on ending it. He lied.

Lying sack of dog crap... He (and the rest of the Libs) absolutely blasted GW for taking this stand.

So basically, “Change” has so far meant:

Forcing the auto industry into bankruptcy by giving them $billions, then dictating how they are to be run, giving a young punk that knows nothing about cards power to run GM...

Granting foreign terrorists the rights of Americans, even when caught on the battlefield.

Coddling Iran, even when proven they are supporting those we are fighting in Iraq. And in the face of a rampant nuke program.

Lies, lies, and more lies - all with little or no questioning.

Liberals getting free passes to lie, cheat, steal -

Marxism being implemented in place of our former market-based, capitalist economy.

Health care being rationed for older people

Borders less secure.

Homosexual “marriage” spreading

Yeah-— wonderful “change”, isn’t it...

Yes he did.

However, I will remain consistent and oppose Obama keeping the visitor logs secret, just as I opposed Bush on the same question.

No hypocrisy here.

They elected an king, not a president. He’s the American version of Big (and lil) Kim Jong, cult of personality all the way. His supporters are lost causes.

"There are those who say that my administration is opaque. But that is clear to everyone. C'mon, people. 'Clear' means transparent. Those who say otherwise are not being honest with the American people.

There are those who say...

Er, uh, scroll, yeah, scroll up. That's it.

The end. Copyright White House two thousand nine.

Thank you."
