The General knows more about respect — and has more in his little finger — than many of the idiots in Washington. Especially her.

No, ma’am, I can’t. It’s just a military thing.

I’m glad this was caught on tape. It needs to be widely circulated.

I’d respond, “When you act like a US Senator and not a Marxist fool for foreign nations, maybe I will.”

""Do me a favor," she said, "could say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am?' It's just a thing, I worked so hard to get that title, so I'd appreciate it, yes, thank you."

Translation, "I spent a lot of other people's money to get where I am..."

Of course, every polititian will say that taking donations doesn't influence their votes. I always wondered who was more gullible, the people giving them their money or the people who believe it doesn't influence their vote...

>>> we refer to Senators, Congressman, and Presidents by title. <<<

“We” do”? When did “we” start doing this? I could swear that I read an essay by Mark Twain, circa 1908, where he mocked this practice as being a novelty and an enormity.

Perhaps there is a difference between addressing a congressman by his title during a hearing and addressing him by title on the street.

I imagine he prefers being called general also.

The first time I heard Boxer talk, I knew she was an idiot.

Good point. It would be a good practice to use the generic title ‘Public Servant’ for the whole bunch of them IMHO.

“we refer to Senators, Congressman, and Presidents by title.”

What title? They have no title! They may BE a senator, a congressman, or a president but they take on no title when doing so. They work for us, we don’t work for them. We will call them anything we damned well please as they work at our leisure.

I’d prefer to call Barbara Boxer “Your Highness”... except I’d pronounce it “You’re heinous”

Judge Randolph: Lieutenant, do you have anything further for this witness?
Col. Jessep: Thanks, Danny. I love Washington.
Kaffee: Excuse me. I didn't dismiss you.
Col. Jessep: I beg your pardon?
Kaffee: I'm not finished with my examination. Sit down.
Col. Jessep: Colonel!
Kaffee: What's that?
Col. Jessep: I would appreciate it if he would address me as Colonel or Sir. I believe I've earned it.
Judge Randolph: Defense counsel will address the witness as Colonel or Sir.
Col. Jessep: [to Judge] I don't know what the hell kind of unit you're running here.
Judge Randolph: And the witness will address this court as Judge or Your Honor. I'm quite certain I've earned it. Take your seat, Colonel.

Ummm... The title of “General” is earned after a lifetime of hard work. The title of “Senator” isn’t earned at all but rather is granted after one campaign cycle.

Liberals are so effing STUPID.

Brigadier General replies, "Yes, ma'am."
