The title of this thread may be deceptive. My understanding is that under such a benefits-tax scenario the medical coverage provided to unions under any EXISTING union contracts will remain untaxed — but once those contracts elapse the benefits are treated the same as all others.

That’s what i have read also. Taxes are exempt for the current collective bargining agreement.
