According to link below, Obama as a head of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which he listed as one of his accomplishments during the election, threw money at this school, Bradwell Elementary. Too bad for this years' eigth grade class he never bothered to follow-up.

mmmmm.....Throwing money that you didn't earn at a problem to solve it. WHAT A NOVEL IDEA!!!!!!

Perhaps it has something to do with calling a 60% failure rate “falling through the cracks”...

To normal people that is a chasm devouring people...

No doubt the children, the teachers and parents self esteem is unaffected because it is all about how you feel about yourself, not what you accomplish or fail to accomplish...

And now the same leftest mentality that produces the above is trying to apply it to the country and our allies and enemies alike...

Massive failure on the way...

Superintendent of the failing Chicago school systems is now Education Secretary. He presided over the failing Chicago school system. Note that ZERO’s children attended an expensive private school not the public school.

I am actually shocked that 40% passed on the southside graduated since most parents could care less about the schooling their kids receive in that part of Chicago. I would have put the number at about 15% of parents who care if that.

Even in rural Oklahoma when you have parent conferences, very few parents show up, yet my kid’s went to Norman, OK, public schools and lines were out the door and down the hall for parent conferences which took one evening and one day and still didn’t get to all the teacher’s. But then our schools our highly rated.

Biggest difference IMO is parents who care and work to make school systems better.

If a school cannot be held accountable for student performance then why do they exist?

It’s hopeless.... truly hopeless there.

You’d have to take the kids completely out of their schools, homes and community, put them in civilized environments with civilized people and educate them. Maybe they’d have a chance of success.

_______________________________________________________________________

The school was accountable. They gave the materials to the students, presented lessons, and gave quizzes, test, and projects. The students either did not do the work, or failed to meet the standards of the school. Parents knew the phone number to the school and where the building is located, along with its hours of operation if they want to check on their child’s progress.

I am amazed that the school flunked them. I had a student two years ago that failed every class but P.E. and lunch for two years. I went to the assistant principle and asked if we were going to hold him back. I was told it was up to the parent. Even if his mom did ask, we probably would not hold him.

Now if the teachers were not telling the kids their grades, or when the assignments were due then yes the school would be accountable. If there are bad practices in the building then they need to be fixed. However failing students do not always mean failing schools.

At Myra Bradwell Elementary School, 44 out of 77 students did not pass the eighth grade.

But don't worry. With Affirmative Action, they will all get full scholarships to Ivy League schools.

My question goes back to Obama. He was responsible for giving these schools money in order to improve the education of these kids. I would like to know what kind of follow-up Obama did. How was this money used? Was it used to do a “survey” or was it used to pay for the salary of a student aid who would sit down with the kids and try to help them with their studies if needed. I would just like to know how the money was used based on this high failure rate. Was this Obama’s first “Stimulus Package”?
