“I’m a reparations man”

Yes, you are.

How about getting a job instead. It’ll give you a little more self esteem.

Why hasn't the Senate apologized for what the Romans did to the Christians?

Some of my ancestors were Vikings. Should I be looking over my shoulder for lawsuits from the english speaking peoples?

Finally, there's some cash in it for me!

By the time we're all done paying reparations to one another, the funds will all be back where they started,

.....minus the government's take.

That's right, cut a great big check for every American who happens to be a certain skin color. And you know that's what it'll come down to. That'll certainly make race relations better...

Ok, so the Senate dunderheads thought this was one of the most pressing things to take care of in the face of an economy that is in the tank, rising unemployment, a government that has spent itself into bankruptcy, committed massive violations and fraud of the Constitution and THIS is the most important thing they had to do!!!??????

Hello!! McFly!!!!

This is why I believe that Congress must be adjourned when the people’s business is done (which, IMO, means they should have been adjourned around 1/21/09).

We have been paying reparations with the income tax funds being spread around poor communities for years. Food stamps, subsidized housing, subsidized health care and on and on. Another point, why am I, who was born in 1960, being held responsible for the actions of people who died years ago, when the reparation seekers are NOT held responsible for THEIR actions today? Just wondering.

I don’t know why they think the Black Caucus is an “unlikely foe”... they are all about living large off their past grievances and have no interest in putting this behind us.

The were fact that there exists a group in our government that is officially allowed to call itself "The Black Cuacus" which excludes people based on the color of their skin, speaks volumes. To all those people that think they are entitled to reparations, go you-know-what yourself.

I hate to bring this up, but can you legally hold me responsible for something that I didn't do to people that didn't have it done to them?

I'm not a slave owner. There are no freed slaves in America today. Does it really make sense in 2009 to charge, say, an American woman who is half Hispanic and Chinese, and send money to an American man that is half white and half black (but whos parent is an African immigrant.)

It's not a 'black or white' society anymore. Obama, the first black president, is a perfect example. Not only is he not 'fully black', but his African ancestors are from an ethnic group tied to slave trade, and his other ancestors are WASPs. Depending on your point of view, he should either be PAID as a slave descendent, or PAY as a slave trader descendant.

Our whole country is like this now. Straight up, there is no way to do reparations without endless amounts of fraud, waste, and new injustices. All to address something approaching 200 years old, that no living person today has any memory of. Few living people today even have memories of those who did have memories of those times.

Every policy that Barry has pushed through is “reparations”.

And the “good” thing about these reparations is that they are not called “reparations”, so they can come back again for a double/triple/quadruple dip.

There are so many paths pointing to a revolution here as to be very worrisome.

Several caucus members expressed concerns about a disclaimer that states that "nothing in this resolution authorizes or supports any claim against the United States; or serves as a settlement of any claim against the United States." Those caucus members say the disclaimer is an attempt to stave off reparations claims from the descendants of slaves.

Damn right it is.

You can also go further back to the black Africans that sold their brethren and those from other tribes to the white slave traders.

I want to know how they are going to go about proving who is the decendent of slaves? There are many Americans who identify themselves as Afro-American who aren’t decended from slaves - for example- President Obama. There are probably many people who identify as Caucasian who actually have an ancestor that was a slave.

I guess they think they get around this with by including the Jim Crow law language.

this is a poisionous vote/bill that will set race relations back decades.

this is a poisionous vote/bill that will advance race relations in the direction it was headed decades ago, before MLK found a peaceful, reasoned, temporary compromise...Senator Byrd what do you say?

In the long run, how will this improve the lives of black Americans?? If they aren’t laying the foundation for the payout of hundreds of millions in fraudulant “reparations” claims, what’s the point???

Ok, couple things wrong here that should be used against these idiots. One:)In the case of the Japanese who were interned and their property seized, the people who did the deed were still living(at least some of them), most people could still remember the events, the ones who the damage was done to were still alive and the apologies and damage claims were made to the actual victims.

The civil war happened long ago. No alive now was alive then, no one living now has ever had slaves, no one living now was ever a slave and certainly no one living now was responsible for it. Reparations paid would be paid to people simply because they are black, not because any wrong was done to them.

The reparations made to the actual slaves were the deaths of 600,000 men, most of them white(Yes, Bozo, violence did end slavery despite what you think)and they were made at the time it happened. That also served as an apology.

Do blacks today think that somehow they freed themselves, that no white people helped? Evidently. The republicans who voted for this sham should be tarred and feathered.

If the apology stands, I want a clause put into the apology that slavery and Jim Crow laws were the fault of Democrat politicians. What is wrong with the gutless wonders we call leaders in the GOP?

Any legislation passed that gives blacks cash reparations for slavery would result in the swift death of the Democratic party. And anyone who doesn’t think so is delusional.

Oh, I know all about it. It is a cruel Leftist lie meant to divide just enough to get them into and keep them in power.
