According to the wording of the resolution a request has to be made to inspect the vessel on the high seas, if that request is denied then the inspection happens in port.
Either way, NK have said that any such attempt to inspect its vessels will be considered an “act of war”.

Not bad. The USS ABCNews as invited guests of Dear Leader will broadcast live all week from the the NK vessel and assure us all that the nuclear arms they're distributing to rogue govts are only for peaceful purposes; ultimately for children and oppressed minorities the world over.

UNderstood...and that's the expected UN claptrap.
But the US Navy can and must act in US interests and if we expect, during this time of war, the N. Koreans of trying to support our enemy...then to hell with the UN resolution and we should use our Navy for what it is intended...that is to protect the US and our interests, all on our own.

Very concerned for the thousands of G.I.s in S. Korea and Japan.

Threats like this have to be eliminated, not talked about. Slow Joe warned us about countries testing the O.

My understanding was that the ChiComs were worried about movement in the other direction; not soldiers, but millions of refugees.

I dont even want to ponder the USS Jimmy Carter. Probably has an automatic surrender device. The USS Jimmy Carter has sand in its turbines and burns $10/gallon gasoline.

USS Obummer steams to North Korea with plans to present Kim Jong-il with Broadway show tune-loaded iPod.
To: maquiladora
The U.S. should bomb North Korea “yesterday”, and keep bombing until the Kim regime begs for mercy.

Does anyone else appreciate the irony of this? USS John McCain...who at CINCPACFLT is getting reamed for sending that particular ship?No one is getting reamed; they are getting a medal. Think about it. The UN rules of engagement have emasculated the Navy - harsh language is their only recourse. The odds of something going right are infinitessmal; of a major cluster flop, almost guaranteed. If ANYTHING goes wrong, the name of John McCain will be forever associated with it in the history books. Like I said, a medal.

Good. But shouldn’t we have a few Arleigh Burkes off the DPRK to shoot down any missile they launch?
