Statement from the President on Iran

THE WHITE HOUSE

Office of the Press Secretary _______________________________________________________________ For Immediate Release June 20, 2009

Statement from the President on Iran

The Iranian government must understand that the world is watching. We mourn each and every innocent life that is lost. We call on the Iranian government to stop all violent and unjust actions against its own people. The universal rights to assembly and free speech must be respected, and the United States stands with all who seek to exercise those rights.

As I said in Cairo, suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away. The Iranian people will ultimately judge the actions of their own government. If the Iranian government seeks the respect of the international community, it must respect the dignity of its own people and govern through consent, not coercion.

Martin Luther King once said - "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." I believe that. The international community believes that. And right now, we are bearing witness to the Iranian peoples’ belief in that truth, and we will continue to bear witness.

Except if you're a Republican.

The Iranian people will ultimately judge the actions of their own government.

And so shall we. Got it!

Sounds like a UN Security Council “Stop, or we’ll tell you to stop again” resolution...

“Martin Luther King once said - “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

He also said;

“A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.”

I wish we had one now....

Does the haloed one think the mullahs give a flying fig newton what Martin Luther King said. One hint to Obama. King’s title.earned and practiced, was the Reverend Martin Luther King. I am so sure that Khahmeini is eagerly willing to follow the words of a Christian Reverend. Our student of history POTUS once again shows his finger is on the pulse of world events.

Remember these words the next time Obama and his administration disses Limbaugh, Tea Parties, and "extremist right-wing veterans."

Another “present” vote. Unbelievable, for the leader of the free world. Believable, however, with 0bama.

You where expecting something more?, I wasn’t.

The interesting thing is I don’t think the Iranian Governments tactics will work. If the people strike, the next step and continue to protest what is the government going to do? I think we are watching a real revolution in real time and when its over there will be only one regime let in the Axis of Evil.

Perhaps this is his confused version of “Walk softly, and carry a big stick.” ? Of course, it depends on what his definition of “stick” is...
