Poem for Iran: ‘Tomorrow is Saturday. Tomorrow is a day of destiny.’
Big Hollywood ^ | June 20, 2008 | John Nolte

Tomorrow is Saturday. Tomorrow is a day of destiny.

Tonight, the cries of Allah-o Akbar are heard louder and louder than the nights before.

Where is this place? Where is this place where every door is closed? Where is this place where people are simply calling God? Where is this place where the sound of Allah-o Akbar gets louder and louder?

I wait every night to see if the sounds will get louder and whether the number increases. It shakes me. I wonder if God is shaken.

Where is this place that where so many innocent people are entrapped? Where is this place where no one comes to our aid? Where is this place that only with our silence we are sending our voices to the world? Where is this place that the young shed blood and then people go and pray — standing on that same blood and pray. Where is this place where the citizens are called vagrants?

Where is this place? You want me to tell you? This place is Iran. The homeland of you and me.

This place is Iran.

We are witnessing a historic moment. This is precisely the kind of action that helped form our own fledgling democracy in our own country. Bravo, Iranians. Keep up the good fight. The world is with you in spirit and do not be swayed away from your ultimate goal of self determination and freedom.

Her name was Neda, which in Persian means divine message or voice. Search the bold text and you will see her look into the camera in one last pleading defiant act.

At 19:05 June 20th, Place: Karekar Ave., at the corner crossing Khosravi St. and Salehi st.

A young woman who was standing aside with her father watching the protests was shot by a basij member hiding on the rooftop of a civilian house. He had clear shot at the girl and could not miss her. However, he aimed straight her heart. I am a doctor, so I rushed to try to save her. But the impact of the gunshot was so fierce that the bullet had blasted inside the victim’s chest, and she died in less than 2 minutes.

The protests were going on about 1 kilometers away in the main street and some of the protesting crowd were running from tear gass used among them, towards Salehi St.

May God hear my prayers for the soul of Neda, the divine message. May He give her peace and the freedom that she died seeking. May He also bless the ones who bring the light of truth to my eyes, so that those who seek darkness fail.

If the Iranian protestors want to make even more trouble for the regime, they will stage a nationwide strike for as long as they can hold out besides rioting for their individual human rights.

thanks for the video, Bratch

for those who don’t already know, the shouts of Allah-o-akbar (God is good) are not in support of Islam, but rather, it’s the only thing the Persians can say without being dragged out of their homes or dorms and beaten or murdered by the vigilantes hired by the mullah-controlled government. So, the night is filled with cries of Allah-o-akbar but the hearts and minds of Persians are really crying out for freedom from their mullah oppressors, a freedom they are now willing to die for. I hope God is listening.

Freedom is never free. You have to pay for it. You have to guard it every single second because there are those who would take it away in a heartbeat, abuse it or use it for their own self-serving purposes and self aggrandizement. It is a lesson our country has learne and keeps learning every single day.

It is a lesson our country has learned, but which it has also forgotten. It may re-learn it someday. The Iranian way.

The USA has troops all over the world, but the place that needs them the most cannot have them, because America is now a socialist country who does not value human freedom.

They shout Death to the government!! and yet they are not even armed, they have no guns or tanks or fighter planes to gain their freedom. I wish we would send them some.
