How can it be "what many in the country see as a rigged election" when they admitted that there were more votes cast in 11 cities than they had voters.

Not so sure about the “Idiot press” thing.
Take a look at the trick the BBC just pulled - they posted a story somewhat sympathetic to the anti-government demonstrations, and attached an image purported to be of one such anti-government demonstration. Several hours later, the BBC reported that it was in error, and that the image was actually of a pro-Iwannajihad rally, and provided a wider-angle image of the event containing both Iwannajihad and the earlier image.
This flap generated enormous press, giving cover to the BBC as well as the likes of al-Reuters and AP (which produce articles widely redistributed by other media outlets) to “neutrally” cover the image of popular support for Iwannajihad.
Maybe that's why Obama refuses to properly condemn the Iranian government. They use Chicago voting techniques. /sarc
