Welllllll, the New Madrid is a bit overdue...
Don't remind me... I live in Memphis.
Wifey & I were teachers at Mentasta in 03 when we were right on a 7.9; biggest shaker we ever experienced. My well head which was in the laundry room, blew off and had a geyzer hitting the ceiling for 2 hrs, imagine the ground pressure. The ground opened up in front yard, half expected to see the devil come jumpin out. 4 foot wide hole, that was 5 foot deep, and the ground moved sideways about 10 feet too. Really affected the elevation by 10 feet or so, but didn’t realize it until winter when overflow was different everywhere.
When we lived in MatSu, we had 5’s & 6’s pretty much every spring; wasn’t a big deal; lived in a log cabin.
Up here along the Yukon, we don’t even have good shakers to speak of, kinda miss them.
