As a man, I can sense magnetic North simply by harnessing the power of microscopic trace metals present in my body. It’s innate.
Well, there is that North Star thingie.
Also the old item about moss on the base of trees on the north side.
Stand at a place and pay attention to where the sun comes up. Then pay attention to where it goes down. Directly in the middle is North.
Never heard the watch trick, though!
