>>Obama insisted to reporters that the “public option” was not the beginning of an entirely government-owned health system.

He’s right, it isn’t. Medicare, Medicaid, and HMOs were the first steps toward a single-payer system.

He completely overlooks the cost/benefit analysis employers will make when they decide they will no longer provide health care but pay the penalties. If the penalties are less than the monthly premiums and the costs associated with paying employees to administer the business’ health care plan, they will do away with the plan and let the employees fend for themselves. This is what Obama is counting on to create the single-payer system.

Obama has loads of ignorance to go with his arrogance.

He's not ignorant. It's an act. It may indeed sound stupid, but he knows exactly what he's doing and he knows exactly what is going to happen to private insurance when a gubmint option is available. It's being designed to kill what is left of the medical insurance industry, since previous mandates haven't done the job. It's not at all about health care for the dumb masses, either. It's about controlling every aspect of your life. Anyone who thinks differently has seriously misunderestimated the Marxist that occupies the White House.....

That’s perfectly logical Mr.CROOCK O.
It’s a big waste of mismanaged money and poor rationed healthcares leading to a huge deficit, high taxes, high unemployment and weak economy...in other words THE HIGHWAY TO SSocialism.

In France ,for instance, the doctors’ rate is decreasing quickly because of state controled low fees and a hard work.
Public hospitals, where everyone can get free “emergency” healthcare for everything, are swallowing money and are becoming a real mess with a lot of under-paid uneducated foreign doctors

We have two examples to observe, medicare/medicaid. Both always go over budget and are loaded down w/ corruption. I’m not sure why Pres Thin Skin things the govt can take an exponentially bigger share of the pie and succeed. That is NOT logical.

Hillarycare was trotted out in the 90’s as basically the same thing ozero is trotting out. Same scheme, different time. In addition to forcing private insurers out of the market and forcing people into the system, there was to be a major media blitz to campaign for this program. There were also provisions to punish media outlets that did not get on board. Hmmm. What is ABC up to lateley?

Government health care = The DMV, The IRS, and the VA combined into one gigantic suppository for every American citizen.

My best guess is at the last minute the country will veer away from plunging off the cliff and try something far more “incremental”. I wonder if young, conservative RATs in the House of Representatives will be the check and balance. They have to face election every 2 years, and apparently there were a lot of them that got elected in formerly Republican districts that got in due to the incompetence of the silly party. If you’re a one term congressman who has to choose between the wrath of Pelosi or the wrath of the voters who now have had PeasantCare forced down their throats - which would you choose?

I might take my chances with the wrath of Pelosi.

We have two examples to observe, medicare/medicaid.

Actually, we have three examples. Don't forget the VA. Having founded and run a biomedical engineering company that provided field service to various VA hospitals in the SE USA, I can tell you with first hand knowledge that the VA is a Grade-A mess. I have personally witnessed staff wandering the halls socializing, instead of doing their jobs. I'm not talking about a few random members of the staff, either. I have peronally witnessed numerous vets having to sit for 10 hours or more in hallways waiting for procedures or to see the doctor. It's disgusting that that we treat our vets this way and if Obamalamadingdong has his way you'll get the full treatment, too. If you really want an example of Obamalamadingdong/gubmint run health care, one needs to look no farther than the VA....

Given the basis of his (and most libs’) worldview, that man is basically good instead of flawed and sinful,

it actually IS logical, to them, that putting the “best and brightest” in positions of power will lead to the best outcome for the most people.

Now, the reality of this world is that humans are flawed, sinful, and limited in scope, and giving any small group or individual too much power always leads to corruption, tyranny, and suffering for the majority.

But Zero doesn’t believe this. There is no way that they won’t succeed - after all, THEY are the ELITE!

...reallocating dollars that are already in the health care system, but aren't being spent well.

Here's the old liberal canard at work, just like their complaints about the way the Iraq war was prosecuted. This is the stale "we need to do this smarter" bald assertion that the incumbents are stupid and incompetent people, that the old systems that have evolved through trial-and-error experimentation in the market are all wrong. Instead, we just have to let Democrats run things the "smart" way and all will be well.

The arrogance of this argument is simply breathtaking...but these are Democrats, so not surprising.

How many people will want to go through the rigors of medical school just to become workers for a gigantic bureaucracy? Where is the incentive without freedom?

There is a good arguement that this is one of the reasons that third world health care is so bad in areas with close ties to Europe. Socialized medicine drove out droves of the intellegent, motivated native Europeans from the industry. To make up the numbers, European countries have flung their doors open to health care workers from their former colonies. As a result, the best and the brightest from these areas are working in Europe, making WAY more money, in better conditions than they would have back home. This leaves mostly 2nd and 3rd tier candidates for health care postions in the third world coutnries.

... lead to forced abortions and euthanasia. It’s about being “useful” in society.

Precisely. You correctly point out the end-game, but to get there, it will be first come in the form of mandatory diets and nutrition, mandatory exercise, health care denied if you don't follow proper nutrition and exercise guidelines, no cardiac care over age 58, etc.

Google "useless eaters" nazi for a sample of what's to come.

We need to be planning a strategy to stop this of course - but also turning it back if it gets implemented.

NO WAY the US will stand for what it’ll become. Conservatives I hope will be ready w/ a plan to “reprivatize”.

I suspect you may be right.

And if you are, then we are in deep trouble. Ignorance can be cured by knowledge. But what is the cure for someone who lusts for power over others?
