"...then why is it that the government, which they say can't run anything, suddenly is going to drive them out of business? That's not logical.”

This has got to be the stupidest thing said by a (so-called) POTUS since the meaning of is.

“Why would it drive private insurance out of business? If private insurers say that the marketplace provides the best quality health care; if they tell us that they're offering a good deal, then why is it that the government, which they say can't run anything, suddenly is going to drive them out of business? That's not logical.”

Because when you subsidize something for at or below cost with the full brute force of the federal government that places onerous regulations on said private insurers, no insurer can compete with that you friggin' moron who has never run anything except your mouth

A friend of mine from the UK who is living in the US for a few years on business wrote me this a couple of days ago on the current subject:

Neither you (the people) nor they (Congress) have any idea of the trouble this will cause America. It will be the most expensive and chaotic experiment in US History. Canada is being cited as a success………………..but they do not have many people. The UK with 2.5 times their population and many other problems is the most expensive failure in their history (just check with anybody that REALLY knows the system (ie is not a politician of some sort and have seen its good and bad times)

Peasant Care bump.

How dare the peasants question The Lord Obama's plan for them!

He is willing, in His benevolence, to allow the loutish churls to have health care just like Congress' health care plan - except for the part where it's not. **grin**

Hey, peasant - I know you're next in line for that liver transplant, but Our Lordship Robert Byrd The First needs "cuts". Oh, and his grandkid, and the grandkid's dog need "cuts" too.

Back of the line, if you know what's good for you...

Can’t wait to see what he says on the 4th. It ought to be a Yankee Doodle Dandy.

He further said: “... if any public plan is simply being subsidized by taxpayers endlessly that, over time, they can't compete with the government just printing money..."

“....the notion that all these insurance companies who say they're giving consumers the best possible deal, if they can't compete against a public plan as one option – with consumers making the decision [on] what's the best deal – that defies logic,” said Obama

Wow, way to directly contradict yourself in the same speech there, Mr. President!
