WASHINGTON, June 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a statement by Reza Pahlavi, in response to President Obama's statement on Iran on June 23:
"President Obama's strong support for human rights in Iran is greatly appreciated. But so is the dilemma of his policy of engagement. Obviously, it cannot succeed in an atmosphere when the clerical regime is revealing its insecurity by forcing arrested demonstrators to admit to Western plots.
But a secure Ahmadinejad government means that people have to go home, and submit to the authority of usurpers. That is a lot to ask for!
It is clear that engagement has to be suspended until there is a stable government supported by the Iranian people. Continuing engagement now is not only a slap in the face of my compatriots in their quest for democracy; it will not work."
This is of no importance to the press right now, they have to dig into the sordid details of Gov. Sanford’s adultery.
Republican adultery trumps any and all news of the day!
Got that Bambi?
“Continuing engagement now is not only a slap in the face of my compatriots in their quest for democracy; it will not work.”
You are a disgrace to common decency and to the human race in general. Presidential you are NOT!!!!!
The people in the streets of Tehran want their country to return to democracy not the return of the Shah.
Have met many ex patriots in europe who certainly DO want the return of the Shah.
Well of course. My dad worked in Iran when I was a kid and made friends who got out in '79. A few would like a return to the Shah however, since they no longer live in Iran, they do not have much of a say. Instead, the power is with the people in Iran and from what I can tell, they want true democracy and not a return to the Shah.
However, you are welcome to ping me when you find pictures of protesters in the streets of Teheran holding pictures of Reza Pahlavi or his father.
Pray for America and Iran's Independence
Should America be working for the return of the Phalavi dynasty to power in Iran? They were our friends.
I suspect that he would be a vast improvement over the mullahs and the madmen who are there now.
I fear a bloodbath following this massive protest.
That may have already started. According to Fox, people are now being “cut up like meat”.
