WASHINGTON Preparing for a possible showdown with Congress, the White House has threatened to veto a $680 billion military spending bill if it contains money for jet fighters the Pentagon doesn't want.
In a statement of administration policy, President Barack Obama's Office of Management and Budget said the $369 million a House committee added to the bill for 12 additional F-22 fighters runs counter to the "collective judgment" of the military's top leaders.

“...if it contains money for jet fighters the Pentagon doesn’t want.”.
I love how they keep framing it this way. The way Obama keeps framing it.
I guess no one told them that the Pentagon isn’t supposed to rebuff the presidents policies.
Those planes are to ones protecting your butt when you are in Air Force One!!
They didn’t want them under Bush either.
Barney Fwank is death on anymore funding as well..

You do realize that the F-35 is far more capable for the enemies that we are likely to fighting and that we have enough F-22’s to deal with anyone (Russia and China realistically) who can threaten an F-35, plus F-35’s are cheaper.
In June 2009, Gen. John D.W. Corley wrote to Senator Saxby Chambliss that a limit of 187 F-22 “puts execution of our current national military strategy at high risk in the near to mid term”
I’ll go with Corley over Obama
I thought Japan and Israel want F-22’s and are even willing to settle for “export models.” Why not keep these people employed if we can sell some F-22’s to our allies?
Why not keep these people employed if we can sell some F-22s to our allies?
The F-35 is still in testing phase. The F-22 has a production line and combat capable units now. Plus, some in congress are wanting to defund the F-35 as well.
Let’s get them built before Obama mandates the destruction of the tools and dyes of both jets.
As a taxpayer I say we buy 1000 of both, and get the volume discount. And if we need some extra $$$ for the purchase, then take it off the top of the welfare budget.
(just kidding about the propaganda stuff)
Any best on an over-ride of Obama’s veto???
Take the 4 BILLION DOLLARS in the porkulus bill that was allocated for ACORN and use it to buy the F-22s
